wilfredo Posted June 22, 2013 Share #1 Posted June 22, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I started copying all my files from one external hard drive to another using Adobe Bridge. All was fine until I got this message: "An error has occurred during copy operation. Some files may not have been processed." What is up with that? Can anyone please shed some light on this? Much appreciated! Cheers!
Advertisement Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Hi wilfredo, Take a look here Backing up Files. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted June 22, 2013 Share #2 Posted June 22, 2013 What program did you use? I think Bridge would not be the first choice. I would opt for Carbon Copy Cloner on Mac, that program generates log files which allows you to sort problems like this.
adan Posted June 23, 2013 Share #3 Posted June 23, 2013 I'm wondering why one needs a program to do this (other than the Mac "Finder.") I just drag and drop my photo folders from my main drive onto my external backup drives.
jaapv Posted June 23, 2013 Share #4 Posted June 23, 2013 Yes, but migrating all files from one drive to another is better done using a dedicated backup program imo. It can check the integrity of the files, for in stance.
wilfredo Posted June 25, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted June 25, 2013 I'm wondering if my Imac is too old and simply doesn't have enough RAM?
wilfredo Posted June 26, 2013 Author Share #6 Posted June 26, 2013 Hi Jaap, I tried using my later version MacBook but still get the same message. I will give Carbon Copy Cloner a shot in the next few days. At first the file folders were copying fine to the new external hard drive, then I started getting the error message. Thanks! Jeff S Posted June 26, 2013 Share #7 Posted June 26, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Might be worthwhile to also check the other end of the chain, i.e., the external drive, to ensure there's no problem there. Drives are inexpensive enough these days to experiment. Jeff
wilfredo Posted June 26, 2013 Author Share #8 Posted June 26, 2013 Jeff, Good point. I will try between the two older drives. Thanks, Wilfredo
wilfredo Posted June 27, 2013 Author Share #9 Posted June 27, 2013 I tried copying from one of my older external drives to another and it worked. Seems like the new drive may be defective. Anyone else care to offer a solution? Thanks!
wilfredo Posted June 27, 2013 Author Share #10 Posted June 27, 2013 Jaap, Tried loading Carbon Copy but they want me to download some other program to clean my I-Mac first. Sounds like a marketing ploy.
