After a walk around the garden yesterday where I shot a heap of flowers with the Leica T fitted with the Summicron R 50mm, and Elpro V1a, I decided to try the same Elpro with the X-Vario.

Three of the flowers shots are in the T photos section, so I won't bore you with them or too many here, but I was very impressed with the X-Vario in use. There was wind, a little, and these were all hand-held (as opposed to yesterday with the T where I used a tripod).

Additionally, I am still waiting on a filter adapter fitting to actually attach the Elpro to the X-Vario, on this occasion the trusty sellotape held it.

Well, for what it is worth, the original untouched .dng (apart from converting to .jpg & downsizing for the forum) is below.  As you can see, I have applied quite a degree of 'artistic licence'!  My aim was to give a more 3D appearance by trying to separate bell from wall and also something of a cinematic look.  My new favourite toys are 3DLUT files as found in LR's Layer/New Adjustment Layer/Color Lookup/ menu.

Of course, opinions will differ on the use of such changes (arghh, he's destroyed the purity of the X-Vario file!) and my methodologies are very unstructured (repeatability - what's that?) but there again I take photos for fun and play about with LR/PS and plug-ins for my own pleasure.

Thank you for your detailed answer, Keith! I have a similar approach, as I play with my files until I get a look that I like. I didn't hear about those 3dlut files before but will surely try them out soon :) I often use the NIK presets or alter the look by simply changing the core settings (contrast/lights/shadows,pp.). I am not one of those dogmatic ooc-jpg fans - though I see their point, too.

Here comes another shot:
