I think it will be the Summarit 35

I often tell my son that the corruption of youth is the one persisting pleasure of old age. Perhaps I should extend my range to, err, slightly older folk too!

I really liked my Summarit 35, it was sharp and contrasty, and for some reason it seemed easier to focus than other lenses. But since I was keeping only one 35, the extra speed of the Summilux won out.

24549110766_fba4a792b4_b.jpgZürich - Ilford XP2 by -Ric Capucho-

Taken in the centre of the Zürich old town. XP2 again, of course.

I've just bought ten rolls of Cinestill 800T... and will see if I can get the DX recoding stickers on their way to me.

The guy at the film shop showed me a bunch of Rollei 35s which he's selling. That would certainly solve my bloody DX problems, and I'm more than capable of setting a manual exposure these days... or nights. Shall have to think about it.

Ric

you're gonna like the cinestill.  Just remember to treat it like portra and overexpose it a stop when the lighting is low.  And for daylight it is fine but better with an 85B filter and exposed at 500 instead of 800.

Thanks, Paul

The film is Kodak Ektar. Have a look http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professional/products/films/ektar/ektarIndex.jhtml?pq-path=13328

The film size is 120 medium format. The negative is 6cm x 9cm

In case anyone is wondering, i used a LensSkirt to avoid reflection from the window

http://www.lenskirt.com/lenskirt-xl/

It works pretty well

I was expecting a reflection and noticed there was not one present - thanks for pointing that out.

A lovely shot and thought.

I am really enjoying these Ektar shots from yourself and all the other contributors.

I probably should ask in the M leases forum but I would rather ask my friends here, I don't have a Leica lens yet only Voigtlander which are very good, I have 40mmF1.4 Nokton, 35F2.5 Color Skopar, 50mmF1.5 Nokton asph, 28mmF2.8 Ultron all M fit but I want to get a Leica lens I'm trying not to spend more than £750, so far I'm looking at the 35F2. 8 Summaron and f3.5 Summaron, what other would be worth looking at not stuck on 35mm but I don't want anything over 50mm

You have a good range of focal lengths already.

I too have the 35f2.5 Skopar almost permanently attached along with the Zeiss 1.5 Sonnar. I have the Leica 35mm f2 v4 and Zeiss 35mm f2; the former I only seem to get out for special occasions. But to be honest I don't think I could tell the difference between my Zeiss/ Voigtlander/ Leica lenses  - maybe because I am not that critical or I just don't have the 'eye' to notice such nuances. Maybe I should do a side-by-side comparison.

LeicaManchester have a used 35mm Summarit for your budget. I would try and hold out for a 35mm Summicron, if you can, for no other reason than it is a little faster than the 35mm you have.

It will be an itch that will not go away ...

I show you 2 pictures

Which one you prefer ?

Church Sainte Geneviève

Paris

for those who have already visited :)

Notice the color of stone, of wood (chairs) , background light in stain glass,

briefly general rendering warmth brilliance ...

Leica M cameras on both pictures with Summilux 35 Asph

Best

Henry, I prefer the composition of the second image, which I would score more than the colour, detail etc. providing they are not detrimental to the image. The second image is warmer in colour and sharper.

M7 with Zeiss 50mm Sonnar on Fomapan 100.

Regarding the earlier discussion on Fomapan, I use it quite regularly both in 35mm and 120 size film. At around £3/ roll it is very reasonably priced and being less than the cost of a bottle of wine I do not get too upset when I have no keepers. The 120 film is very good as far as I am concerned.

I have returned to FP4 recently (flying the flag etc) and have been impressed. I suppose I am using Fomapan as a 'learning' film given that Ilford films are £2 more per roll.

David about your Summicron 35 mm (IV) Erwin Puts said :

"4th Version Midland, better quality at full aperture and especially in peripheral areas of the image
By stopping down to medium apertures (f 4 to 5.6) fine details are recorded with good clarity and

smaller openings (f 8-11) quality is excellent over the entire image
Excellent design and compact than its predecessors
Often called the "king of bokeh" in the Leica range"

Good lens as Summarit 35

Thanks Henry. I like Erwin Puts' website.

I must admit that I wanted a classic Leica lens and as I was part exchanging some other Leica gear I could not resist this lens. Sadly (as in a materialistic way) I was drawn in by the moniker "king of bokeh" - I don't regret it though!

Sometimes I like to do some macro photography
it relaxes me somehow and I'm interested in what is small

among flowers in the nature, I like poppies for this true red but

with lines and edges of the petals perfectly soft (no rasor cut)

thick petals, not thin  like cigarette paper...... like in the nature

believe me when I tell you I have compared that with digital :)

And without wanting to railroad this thread, curiosity got the better of me. "Where is Mieussy"? So I looked in Google Maps of course.

Looks lovely, and a place I really must visit. Interestingly, saw an aircraft in the shot, so did a quick screen-grab.
