Makes me want to interrogate the gate keeper keeping watch over your Kodachrome archive, especially in response to the question at the border: "Where are you coming from?" More! We want more, Phil.

With a Rollei in the center of the road, you got guts, as well as a charmed life. Totally fast lane talent. What's around the next bend?

Garry Winogrand first said it: There is nothing as mysterious as a fact clearly described. This illustrates that maxim perfectly. As Rog has pondered - what lies around that bend? And why is the road empty? The clouds look threatening, the landscape veering towards dark and brooding. There is a little that this photograph describes, but so much more that it's not telling us. As with all road trips, this photograph helps us believe that the journey is the destination.

And this is the perfect partner-in-crime to Tuna's masterful picture. Our brain (well, mine at least) makes an association of the top third of this picture with the threatening sky in Tuna's roadscape. The yellow, mysteriously-redacted wall at the lower section causes consternation and wonder. That the artist then beseeches us not to go there serves to cause us to re-eveluate this splendidly-coloured tableau as something a little dangerous, perhaps a bit menacing, about which we are being forewarned. Facts clearly stated, surely, but which leave our minds without answers, only questions.

My wife's Subaru has a warning sign on the dashboard just like that. Now I know what it is for!
