philipus Posted November 8, 2015 Share #7691 Posted November 8, 2015 Thank you Adam, I appreciate that you offer your thoughts on the photo. The difficulty with this shot is that the church is right next to a road with several street lights, which give off one colour temperature. The church itself is lit by two massive, bright white facade lights with a different colour temp. I do feel however that the colour temp doesn't completely match what I saw when I was there so I'm going ti tweak it further. Incidentally, now that I've begun to scan E6 as (non-linear) tiff, I find that these types of photos are most easily colour balanced in Adobe Camera Raw. wow, another very nice technically complex film shot. Very impressive. I just love the motion in the star, the "magic hour" color of the blue sky, and the tension between the motion of the stars and the steadiness of the steeple. I am not crazy about the orange cast on the roof, and wonder whether that can be tamed to have a more natural WB. In any case, keep up the great photography.

Best Henry it is clear that i belong to the 9% who use their cell phone as well as not convinced and this may only be used in emergencies - in short, perhaps i am a geek, but free....... Sparkassenkunde Posted November 8, 2015 Share #7693 Posted November 8, 2015 Low tide along the East River... EKTAR How die you get the birds to keep their positions during exposure? How die you get the birds to keep their positions during exposure? The light streak from the sun adds a very nice atmosphere! I am very impressed by your latest results! Thanks very much, Henry, Keith and James, for the posts. James - All I can say is that these birds must have been really tired, or lazy, or old , as the exposure was indeed quite long!! Seriously, the were lots is other birds who flew in and around the area but they were all washed out by the long exposure (which, with a 6 stop ND filter, 100 ISO film rated at 80 and reciprocity failure, was probably somewhere b/n 30 seconds and a minute (maybe more). A miller Posted November 8, 2015 Share #7696 Posted November 8, 2015 (edited) This was the other that I liked from the same morning. I particularly like the unmistakable film-like color of the water (scanned on AUTO and no WB changes) and hint of shadow detail in the face of the sun kiss. It is less peaceful than the other I just posted, and conveys a different mood...I think... Couldn't chase away the lens flare with this 60+ yr old lens...but I think is salvageable perhaps nonetheless. EKTAR Best, Adam Welcome, dear visitor! Doc Henry Posted November 8, 2015 Author Share #7700 Posted November 8, 2015 (edited) Hi Henry, From what one can see on the web: The grays look a lot like HP5 to me, and that I like. The grain seems comparably a bit softer and smaller, which is a matter of taste - and motive. Overall it works well for me here. Regards Christoph Yes Christoph you're right like HP5 for grey nuance perhaps a little more grain comparing with Kodak TX Thanks for your advice Best Henry Edited November 8, 2015 by Doc Henry
