Ernest Posted October 25, 2020 Share #72074 Posted October 25, 2020 CF Redaction M-A APO 50 Fuji Natura Mapping. I started with some cement wall abstracts, and one in particular with this black smudge seemed a likely candidate, whispering, "Take my picture, mister." But why the smudge? Everything today and every day is suspect. I knew I wanted to do something with a restrained palette, something with yellow and black. Simple. Yellow is uplifting, but with black, it is CAUTION, perhaps even crime scene material. So many crimes in broad daylight. What was the smudge hiding? Why are we not entitled to what is beneath the smudge? Redacted, redacted. I remember reading some pages of a WWII military record group I was permitted to research thirty-five years ago in the National Archives. Marked in red at the top of the page was TOP SECRET. Eighty percent of the page was blacked out, and rubber stamped on the page was the notice that the material had been redacted in the interest of national security. Forty-five years after the end of WWII. So much for the map of my Bauhaus assemblage. Welcome, dear visitor!
