Ian to continue about using b&w versus color , I think some type of pictures

are more adapted in comparison of color , like fog It's nicer in b&w

The grain of film reproduces better microdroplets of fog water in black and white :)

I have a weakness for foggy black and white shots, and this one is quite outstanding, Henry!

Since several of you use various cameras this might be a good place to ask.

I use a simple canvas messenger bag as camera bag and currently have a softish neoprene insert from Crumpler but this insert is really too soft because it is a bit difficult to take equipment out and put it back in the bag.

The bag itself is fantastic so i wish to continue using it but i need a new insert which is a bit stiffer, though probably not a completely hard or rigid insert because i like that the bag bends around my body a bit.

Ideally it should be about 25-30cm long and perhaps 15cm tall and wide enough to fit my Hasselblad. I'd be very grateful for any suggestions, thanks in advance.

Just a word to the choir, as the expression goes, I have been thinking about getting an SL for a number reasons and have been looking at examples of the photos people posted in the SL section of this forum and then get back some pics of mine, a mixed bag as usual, and l look at the ones posted here, some better than others of course but that's of no consequence since this is the safe place to show what we've done and want to share, my point is that these film photos regardless all have soul to them that, to me, is missing from the others. So, SL GAS attack has passed, maybe some old R just to have an SLR for certain circumstances.... anywhere here is a shot of my sweet and friends hiking last week in the Berkshires near Stockbridge, MA ....

I bought the SL as soon as it became available, and sold it 3 months later. To my eyes, there was something really odd with the colors, and the output was more digital looking than my digital M bodies. I have completely switched to analog since last March and have absolutely no regrets.

Billingham offers removable inserts for different bags. I find them excellent. This one seems particularly suited for your purpose:

Hello Steve,

Nice photo.

There is also a Leicaflex SL that you might consider.

This gives you the ability to both use an SL & to use film at the same time.

And it is compatible with a number of "M" lenses.

Best Regards,

Michael

I have the Leicaflex SL, and a couple of R6 cameras.

While it is indeed possible to use the M lenses on the SL and R series, you'd need to point out that it is only possible for close up work, as the back-focus distances are significantly different, 27.8mm for the M, and 47mm for the R.

Hello Gary,

Actually, there are a number of "M" lenses that are usable to Infinity on a Leicaflex SL such as:

65mm, F3.5 Elmar

90mm, F4 Elmar

90mm, F2.8 Elmarit

125mm, F2.5 Hektor

135mm, F4.5 Hektor

135mm, F4 Elmar

135mm, F4 Tele-Elmar

200mm, F4.5 Telyt

200mm, F4 Telyt

280mm, F4.8 Telyt

400mm, F5 Telyt

400mm F5.6 Telyt

400mm, F6.8 Telyt

560mm, F5.6 Telyt

560mm, F6.8 Telyt

800mm, F6.3 Telechron

Some came in more than 1 configuration so it is possible to see, for example, 2 different looking lenses that are both marked 90mm, F4 Elmar.

And some of the early 90mm, F4 Elmars are not adaptable to a Leicaflex SL for use all the way to infinity.

All of the lenses listed above need an adapter that allows "M" bayonet lenses to be used on a Leicaflex body. Some also need additional adapters.

Best Regards,

Michael

This superb image demonstrates more than most shots that less is more; plenty to absorb with the human-like features. You ARE the B&W master!

Thank you Henry and Steve, your comments are much appreciated!

In addition to the Billingham insert already mentioned, there is the Artisan & Artist ACAM insert in two sizes

I have a couple of these for non-camera bags. They are very adaptable and about the perfect height for your application.

Cheers
