I want just to show you here the difference in black between the 2 films

as I notice since I use them. May be I'm wrong but film is so wonderful for rendering

No Henry, You're absolutely right ! I also love Your colour pics - the Mont St. Michel is terrific. Simple, yet so beautiful. I am glad to have found this place - so many nice photos to look at in the evening offers a lot of positive energy. Rare thing in a quite crazy world.

The Velvia provides more of a paintery visual to me with its vivd color and contrast; Portra more of an clearer/clean representation of scene.  For this type of scene, I agree, the Velvia provides the desired effect for me.

 

 

Now the Portra 160 (lovely but to me pales in comparison to the more edgy Velvia photos)

These are from a very good friend of mine...which she recently back to film after I borrowed my waterproof Canon Sure Shot A1 to her.

Not too bad for a 10£ camera...I love how the colors came out.

I like whales so I like your first picture :D

I also like the blur of pic 2,3 and 4 :)

Nice series . In the first picture I don't recognize the Portra 400 but very nice color
