Hello Eoin,

I have a question for you.

Back when digital cameras were being developed I remember that 1 of the issues about printing was that there had to be an entirely different system for printing Kodachromes than there was for everything else.

I know that Kodak, at least, made such a system specifically for Kodachrome alone.

Is that still the case today or is Kodachrome now part of all of everybody's processing systems automatically?

Best Regards,

Michael

Interesting question, Michael, but not one I'm able to answer. I know that there are specific scanning profiles to use for Kodachrome, based on the way the differences in how the multi-layers of that film are interpreted, but of late, I've just been taking straight raw shots of slides and not handling the Kodachromes any differently to the E6 slides.

The only printing I have ever done for Kodachrome was back pre-digital, with most of the later stuff being on Cibachrome ( -_- aaaaaah...).

I'm sure that there are others here who are much more experienced with the nuances of Kodak's great creation, and look forward to hearing what they can tell us.

This is nicer Adam, the last one you posted didn't have the "zing" this one does. Nice colours, and minimal DoF, very "un-SWC" like.

Gary

Thanks, Gary.  Great (and accurate) feedback and really appreciate the close look.  It is really amazing what a focus screen and prism finder can do for the SWC.  I recall seeing this exact image through the prism as I was open all the way to f4.5.  And the Provia gave it to me on the film.  Thanks again...

In getting ready for my yearly family reunion trip (Alabama) I acquired a Nikkomat FTn EP (a Japan only Nikkormat that was only sold on military bases) and had to throw a roll in it to test it before we left.

This is a picture (in extremely low light) of a guy smoking an electronic E-Cigarette.

I shot HP5+ at 800 and souped it in fresh XTOL. I'm looking forward to having a LOT of negatives to put in the enlarger when I get back!30000782740_a3c4eed7c1_h.jpg

And this is another test shot; this time of leaves of an apple tree taken from my porch. I didn't monkey with the exposure or anything, I wanted to see how well the meter would work without a lot of intervention. I'm happy to say that (other than down being "more" and up being "less") that it works great.
