Each time I look at it I see something different. And I agree about Rodinal. Many photographers experiment with various developers to work with a favorite film. I experiment with various films to work with Rodinal. 2
stray cat Posted March 5 Share #92728 Posted March 5 Recently gbealnz kindly sent me, all the way from New Zealand, an Olympus Pen F to explore some half-frame photography. This was because I'd expressed an interest in the exceptional photographs Aryel has been taking with his Pentax 17 - Aryel has done a very interesting mini-review of that camera in the Film forum: Anyway, Gary's timing was impeccable because it arrived the day before we were to set off for the USA. As these things happen next day I dropped my M6TTL onto the concrete floor at Melbourne Airport and damaged the shutter release. So I'll include some advice from Youxin Ye, who fixed it for me swiftly, relatively inexpensively and effectively - get rid of soft releases! Advice which I've now taken to heart. So for the first two weeks I had the little Olympus Pen F as my traveling camera. And what a fun camera it is! Quite the purist piece - no light meter, small viewfinder, double-stroke wind-on - but no worse for that. Fun, fun, fun. Gary warned me that the camera was untested by him but everything sounded good and so it turned out. Cut to the chase - he's agreed to sell me the camera and I'm delighted. Anyway, a picture (well, OK, a diptych, which is one thing this camera lends itself to very much). Taken at Tweede's Cafe in North Bend, Washington. Fans of "Twin Peaks" may recognize it as the set for the Double R Diner. The o-o-f is not the camera's doing, it's just me trying to be arty farty: Welcome, dear visitor! Waitress at the Double R Diner, 2025 Olympus Pen F, 38mm, FP4+ This Olympus Pen F is really a beautiful camera! Sometimes I am in a small town near Vienna and there is a camera store with some beautiful Olympus Pen F cameras. He has a beautiful black version which I really would like to buy. But for three or more years he did not want to sell the camera because he like it so much and owes it for a long time. I can understand him… 1
