Olympus OM-2, G.Zuiko 1:1.2 f=55mm, Kodak Gold 200.

John, rose hips in winter—who can resist that? Beautifully isolated with the 55/1.2. I have Nikon’s 50/1.2 Ai  and also Canon’s 50/1.2 EF—I really need to take them off the shelf and use them again.

Portra 400

I was surprised at how grainy the Portra was but it's a nice effect. I'm told this is not uncommon? My exposure was on as far as I remember.

I love the light on her face, perfectly done!

Did you buy the Monochrome?

I shot 99.9% of my imagery in colour because that was what the clients wanted. When working on these projects (mostly TV commercials) I was in full control of the colours in the image. This changed when I started shooting stills. I quickly learned that shooting landscapes in colour can work nicely on certain subjects, but when documenting events and regular life the motleyness and arbitrary colouring of what surrounds me isn’t only challenging my eye but also gets in the way of my photography. Thus, I now exclusively use B&W for daily shooting and can't be happier. Also, development is much less of a chore.

Nice pictures, BTW!!

Thank you!

and no, didn’t buy the monochrome. Decided to stick with film and really try and work out how to get better results from my photography and developing. Happy with the decision as I feel like I’m starting to get a better handle on it and really enjoying the process.

That is a supreme compliment, especially coming from you Marco, fellow ortho bro and photographer extraordinaire!  But you know my secret - Viktoria Yarova.  I just stood there with my tongue hanging out and somehow managed to trip the shutter without too much camera shake.  What a powerful presence she is.

Thank you very much Tim for your kind words!! I totally agree with Viktoria, she is really one of the most professional and creative models I have ever seen. It is always a pleasure to work with her!

I'm about to try some Double XX, can I ask what developer you are using?

I tried the film for the first time and I really like these results. I am sorry about the developer, I send the films for developing and scanning to a lab in Germany and they really do a nice job. I have to admit that I stopped developing film by myself. No excuse, I became lazy!
