I like Beck's. I have always heard it the "Budweiser" of Germany.

Best,

It was a form of memorial Klaus? Not tried Becks, but love Venice. Last trip there I had the pair of Hasselblads, my back has never thanked me for it..............

Hello Wayne,

It’s been quite some time since I last drank Budweiser. I remember a trip to the South-West of the USA  with my family  where the beer – probably Budweiser – was packed into brown paper bags to conceal the contents. My sons found it very amusing.

Your comparison is probably meant in terms of market presence, and from that perspective, you’re right. In terms of taste, Beck’s is a typical North German pilsner, somewhat stronger and slightly more bitter than the beers in Southern Germany, where I live. At home,  I prefer a local, unfiltered beer – Palm Bräu.

In Southern Germany, more local beers with limited distribution are still consumed. Before the war and up into the 1960s, almost every town had at least one brewery. Almost all of them have disappeared now, and the large beverage multinationals have taken over the market – like Beck’s.

Cheers!

Maybe you’re right, Gary. It definitely caught my eye.

I still clearly remember your Hasselblad photos from Venice—Burano, with the SWC. I liked them, and they may have even influenced my decision to travel with an SWC myself. I think we’re not the typical tourists, but we don’t want to be either.

About your back pain: The pain will pass, but the joy remains—or at least, I hope so.

K.

At first glance, he looks like a monk.  Nice composition and tonal range.  Beyond that, it is stark, but with a very interesting human component that makes me wonder what he's doing.  Until I realize he's on his smart phone!  And then it becomes emblematic of how we have become so socially isolated in the present era.
