What a delightful color palette! Besides the wonderful color fields: the perfect illusion of a seaside, cordoned off by caution tape.

Thanks, Dr. Klaus, for the comments. Gets me thinking about Kafka and "The Silence of the Sirens." The seductive beauty of those orange no-go barriers.

Hi Phil, perhaps you are right, though I prefer to err on the side of caution (or perhaps will buy a lead lined bag and do an experiment on my next flight 😊).

On occasion security staff that was not happy with their initial xray scan have had me unpack my bag into a tray and sent it through the machine a second time 🥺(usually if the bag contains dense items like leicas and lenses)…

As so often you may find additional info on the web, for example: https://petapixel.com/2021/07/06/what-happens-if-your-film-goes-through-the-tsas-ct-scanners/

and:

https://thedarkroom.com/bringing-film-airport-security-x-rays-film/

PS:

Furthermore I observe that increasingly musea have x-ray scanners installed, from the Hagia Sophia to the Musée D’Orasay, so it may be prudent to take precautions there as well.

I’ve taken FP4 and HP5 back and forth through airport scanners in Europe the US and Japan for years and never had any issues. Always been fine. I develop and print myself so I can always see exactly what they look like.

My first image post on the forum. I use B&W film process in Rodinal and scan negs. Today I use Leica M4's and an M6 with different lenses. I live in the Museum district of Richmond, VA. I've been using this set of cameras for about 2 years (more about this on my web site - https://www.georgeacollier.com/

I'm hoping I've followed the right steps to make the file.

Welcome!!!

Very nice photo, indeed, and you did everything right. No need (yet) to exact our usual very stiff fine for getting it wrong....

Very much enjoyed your website and the chronicling of the interesting life, from childhood to the present, that you've led.

That's an interesting association. To be honest, I wasn't familiar with Kafka's posthumously published one-page story, but after some reading I  absolutely agree, it´s about seduction-and  for me-deliberately placing oneself in an ambiguous situation of deception and pretense. I know that you know that things are not always what they seem, but let's pretend for a moment... and enjoy it.

And that's exactly what I do when I look at your dazzling artworks.

Users of Leica film cameras may be interested to read an article I’ve been honoured to have published in the excellent “The Camera From Wetzlar” online magazine: - E-book: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iboCUwFZj_OOMjTZy4OoOxxMQfh9eOaO/view?usp=share_link

- Pdf: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iCo0dFFLXJH5ZelcwjqzwQGlaOd49Au3/view?usp=sharing

I highly recommend subscribing (it’s free) to the magazine anyway, it’s a start-up by a passionate team of Leica enthusiasts who fund it themselves and always has interesting stories and articles as well as excellent photography, reviews and so on.
