This excellent photo of yours would make a great sales ad. Thanks a lot! I could not agree more about the Thambar. It was an eye opener for me. 20 hours ago, DreiPunkte said: Hi Aryel Very nice picture. Just a question how do you control the amount of soft focus with a Leica Film M. I use SF Lenses reguary on my 4x5 photography but the is a groundglas to have everything under control. Is it a big bag mix of surprise, experience and luck. With my SF Lenses every picture needs other exposure and amount of SF impact. Only experience... After a while you really get a feel of what things will look like at various apertures and there is no SF control beside aperture. Soft focus is only a part of the Thambar look though. To me, it is more important to pay attention to the light and the interaction between the bright and dark parts of the scene. The bright parts will glow and kind of 'shine through'. Even light scenes can become very dull. So in summary, shoot shoot shoot whilst keeping track of what you are trying. Hope this helps a bit. Welcome, dear visitor! DreiPunkte Posted December 19, 2023 Share #88768  Posted December 19, 2023 Hi Aryel You are right you have to learn and understand what happens with these lenses when you want use them for more than silly blured unsharp stuff. In my eye one of the keyes to SF is the contrast. These lenses are demandig but they can produce outstanding pictures. in very different ways

Maybe Kodak is trying to get back to the sales they had before digitalisation with this pricing policy? Unfortunately, Kodak has a quasi-monopoly on colour film and is trying to explore the pain threshold of consumers in this way...

What I really love is that it gives an organic look to the motor and oil. It brings the scene to life. The negative must be a beauty on its own.
