KevinL Posted December 11, 2023 Share #88655  Posted December 11, 2023 (edited) 6 hours ago, Kl@usW. said: Kevin, maybe I misunderstand you here, but the "reversed labels" get their correct direction again, if you select "tif" as the final format. I think you understood what I was trying to say, Klaus, but to make sure:  the Whites slider actually controls the Blacks; Highlights controls Shadows; Shadows controls Highlights; and Blacks controls Whites.  Every label controls it's opposite part of the tone curve.  I think I read the tif file solution somewhere else (maybe the NLP forums?), but my understanding (perhaps mistaken!) was that then NLP made a tif file that took up more HD space.  I don't really find the reversed labels that troubling so I didn't bother.  Perhaps this was an old(er) version of NLP though.  Edited December 11, 2023 by KevinL Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

You're right, there are many variables. I suspect CMOS camera scanning softens grain somewhat. My film scanner seems to amplify it. I don't usually adjust much except dust spotting and curves. If the grain is really bad I might use the LR Texture slider. My preference is for a nice range of middle grays, and DD-X seems to allow that when pushing.
