Andy, you made a very special photo of a  photographically quite exhausted place ! Chapeau.

Yes, I can see the silvery metal strips, which gets my vote for creative, but here's the reality. Ocean. Very intriguing, your notion of "haptic photography," non-language communication which conveys meaning through physical contact, according to the Oxford dictionary. Well, I had to look it up, and I am not sure how it would work, but I get buzzed by the idea of non-language communication. Doesn't this create its own language, though?

next time I will have to look closer..I´m still not sure these aren't metal stripes... 😂.

Non language communication: Isn't that what we do when we make a photograph and then someone looks at this photo:  your planks send me an information. My visual cortex aligns this with earlier experiences of my finger tips: scratch the surface, feel the scales...Your non-language feature worked perfectly !!  I can even smell the rotten wood...  Next example: @benqui shows us another beautiful picture of one of his muses: your  visual cortex activates the  haptic memories you once made... you finish the story.... 😊.    Bo´s coffee table cat might evoke a lot of happy  haptic memories too...

Such an exciting landscape photo! I love the colours and the mystic feeling in this photo. Well done Ouroboros. :))

Thank you very much. I've got that lens too and have been wondering which tubes to get for it. The picture below looks really amazing. I'm sure that after my next nuclear digitalisation winter, i.e. when all my scanners have died permanently, I will get begin to use a DLSR so it's very helpful to know that it's also possible to get good results with 120 film.

Thanks Philip. You may have viewed this after I updated the Flickr file, having redone the digitization with the negative frame elevated with four 35mm film canisters. But I'm sure a diffuser would work too. I've got a set of three Nikon extension tubes. The largest is the PK-13 (27.5mm) and gives 1:1 magnification on 35mm full frame, so ideal for scanning/reproducing 35mm film or slides. The second largest is the PK-12 (14mm) which seems perfect for 120 film and i digitised 6x6 and 6x9s with it. The smaller of the three is the PK-11a (8mm). Perhaps this has a specific purpose too. All three allow Ai/Ais coupling and metering.

Oh, and spectacular street scene you posted above.

Cheers,

And -  first attempt at a 35mm digitisation with the Nikon D610. I photographed the medium format transparencies in Nikon's Raw format "NEF" and Darktable seems to do a good job with D610 presets (tone curves, etc). Makes a mess of negatives however, so I photographed this 35mm neg as a Jpeg. Pretty straight forward to invert the image in Darktable. The next test will be a colour negative which may be more of a challenge. If anyone here uses Linux, I came across the following script that uses imagemagic to convert negatives in Tiff format to positives. Darktable did a better job of it for me but this might be really useful to batch process a whole stack of files for quick evaluation: https://github.com/chrishunt/negfix8

Hehe, wonderful photo (though I'm wondering if the cat might not have preferred being invited over in a non-Hannibal Lecter way).

So cool Hank. I decided to do a handstand (um no, but I did turn my laptop around) and look at it flipped. Looks great that way too :)

Great to see you back here Josh! That's a terrific silhouette. Was the water reasonably swimmable there in October? I think I see someone in the water.

Hi it's been a while and I look forward to catching up on the thread. This is from October, Venice Beach CA, Leica M6, Summicron 35mm, and maybe Kodak pro image 100??

I like the composition and simplicity, Antonio. Very Zen, and compared to Josh's photo above this sea looks somewhat more frigid.

Very nice Rog. I'm seeing a slightly squished Fibonacci spiral superimposed too. Perhaps I need to have my eyes (or my brain!) checked?

This one most definitely lacks trees. San Francisco again, shot in July or August 2001. I've always been fascinated by the little things that make one place look different from another place.

Have you looked at Vuescan?  It can read through a folder of raw files and convert them e.g. in my case DNGs from shooting negatives with a Leica SL converted to positive raw files in DNG format.  It does a reasonable job with C41 negs, especially if you have a blank frame to take a white balance from.

Thanks John, will give it a try.
