Well I finally did it, not easy given work, I starting developing my own black and white. The few shots below are Ilford HP5+ developed in DD-X. Nothing fancy, just ABC from the Ilford instructions. It was one of my goals this year in photography, the other getting into a studio and learning lights to take portraits. Covid took care of that. Anyway, just proud to share some pics, not that developing is all that hard but there is a satisfaction to doing things yourself (at least for me).

I trust you and yours are safe?

Developing film turns photography a bit more into a "craft" and can even have a strange meditative effect. Using a new film or developer, I found starting with data sheet values a very good practice as well. B/W has some leeway and if in doubt, I tend to over-expose and under-develop, which can make the job for the film scanner easier.

Enjoy the new option

Astounding! The paramedics are shouting, "Clear!" They don't need the paddles on this one; it's breathing vital life. This is alibi enough for artists to never leave Taos. The breath of blue. I am reaching for Winsor Newton Cerulean Blue (137) for the pickup and the door, then mix in a swipe of Manganese (382) for the sky, so subtle, which brings up the assertive Cad Yellow (108), playing with Cad Lemon (086), offset with standby Raw Sienna (128) and punctuation Raw Sienna (128), Burnt Umber (104), and Yellow Ochre (136). Is there a law against having too much fun? Not here! Even the curb gets into the act! Bravo, bravo. Encore!
