chrism Posted February 4, 2018 Share #46926 Posted February 4, 2018 Needful things, firstly for Philip: Jeep by chrism229, on Flickr Much as the vehicle isn't well made, it does go through deep snow like no other. The other needful thing for all of us is proper backup of all our scans: Backup system by chrism229, on Flickr This old iMac has four 8TB drives attached, and they are set up to copy one to another every day. On top of that JBOD enclosure is a drive dock, and any naked 3.5" drive may be set into it. I have seven such drives that get cloned once a week (and two of them live off site). On the floor below the Brother MFC and the old HP 7600 is an Epson P600, which is my current A3/A4 printer. Not a piece on the Beseler enlarger: Enlarger by chrism229, on Flickr but that is a different matter. C.

Guest Nowhereman Posted February 5, 2018 Share #46932 Posted February 5, 2018 (edited) chrism - Your "chilling" Jeep picture makes me think of the image below, which I don't recall if whether I've already posted here before. It's an abandoned and rusted fuel truck at a defunct tungsten mine at Wiang Pa Pao, Chiang Rai Province in Thailand. In the 1980s a landslide annihilated the village of some 1,000 people, including a temple and a school, at the foot of the mountain, burying alive 300 to 900 people, depending to whom you speak, as well as destroying completely the village school and buddhist temple. Initially developed by a Swedish company, the mine was eventually relinquished as it was taken over by artisanal miners, whose uncontrolled activity caused the underground galleries to collapse and provoke the landslide. A miller Posted February 5, 2018 Share #46934 Posted February 5, 2018 (edited) I am sharing a few photos from the ever enjoyable morning walk in Central Park that i had last week with our own Steve Blitz, Stuart Nordheimer and (Stuny) and Sharookh Mehta (Sharookh), a long time LUF member (and friend from many past visits) who was visiting from Mumbai.I was equipped for a morning of shooting snow-goers and was caught a little flat-footed on our scenic route through the Park. Here's one of Sharookh, Steve and Stuart, taken with a roll of Fuji Natura 1600 that was gifted to me by Pete Farnsworth (farnz)M7, 28 elmarit pre asph Welcome, dear visitor! Ramesh Posted February 5, 2018 Share #46938 Posted February 5, 2018 I went out shooting into the morning sunlight a couple of weeks ago with my 28 cron. Not as stellar as the 28 summaron shooting directly into the sunlight. But it does give an interesting "signature" on the image (i.e., the circle and line). NYC Portra 400 (+1) M-A, 28 cron Very nice Adam - certainly you have captured the atmosphere of a cold winter morning...
philipus Posted February 5, 2018 Share #46939 Posted February 5, 2018 Good to see you post here, Andy. I like this one in particular. Looks like a panoramic camera of some sort or is it a crop? Castlerigg.jpg Very nice Chris. Reminds me of what a fellow Swede who lives in Uganda once said. He and his wife lived on top of a fairly remote hill and had a few 4x4 vehicles. The one that always got up the hill and through anything, from mud to bush, was an old Defender, the kind with the metal pull-up door handles. The other ones, mainly Landcruisers I believe, would get stuck easily. In Bosnia I used to drive a lot of Discoveries which were also quite capable except that the chassis would tip annoyingly in sharp turns. It's amazingly timely that you post that picture of the backup as I'm starting to fill up my drives and need to look for a more longer-term solution. I've got four internal drives in the Mac Pro which SuperDuper daily but I need to get an external for more space. That box (OWC?) and the dock look like a good solution. I was otherwise thinking of just a simple drive rack with JBOD to superduper.
