This is my general workflow when shooting people in order to ge some extra speed. I probably wouldn't have thought of it for this scenery but the slightly less saturated colors from the push complimented the mood quite nicely. I was hoping for an impressionistic look, especially once we were there and saw the faded building colors in the background. It worked, better luck than smart (had no idea how overexposing pushed Portra would turn out. I did a search for "can or worms" and for "worms" to find the post that you found offensive and couldn't find it: either it was deleted or my search skills are not up to the task. In any case, "can of forms" is an idiomatic expression in English that cannot be translated literally into French. The fuller expression is to "open a can of worms", which means a situation that causes a lot of problems when you start to deal with it. In French you could say, "donner un coup de pied dans une fourmilière." So, whoever used the expression could not have meant an insult. In my search, I came across the following post from 2015 using this expression; it certainly is not an insult: Apologies for opening up that can of worms but I do think it looks better without the vignette. Tmx Posted February 1, 2018 Share #46751 Posted February 1, 2018 Mike, the critical thing with the scanner is to set your BP & WP as wide as possible, prior to scanning. That usually just involves setting the white point, ensuring there is NO clipping. That is a trick in itself, but not difficult. I've always liked the slightly crystalline structure of grain when it comes out of an HC-110 bath. I finally developed my first bulk loaded roll of Fomapan 400 Action. First time I use this film in general. Not bad, I have to say. The film looks grainy to me, more than Tri-X and HP5, particularly when used with an orange filter. I'm surprised I didn't mess up the bulk loading ... Here's a shot of an old Fiat 500 at the waterfront of Brindisi.
