Here's another from my 4am trek to Central Park a few weeks ago...

I didn't have a meter, and my iPhone died so had to count out loud, so I don't recall the exact exposure time.  But I do recall that I was pretty miserable in the -15C temperature kicking myself for not bringing enough clothing layers  :(  I think the exposure time was between 8--10 minutes; some of the ducks have more patience than I will ever have.

This is incredible. You keep upping your own ante, Adam. You'll have to have that meter surgically inserted somewhere that you can't forget it! Not that forgetting it mattered at all - a bit like Ansel with Moonrise! Those earlier inclement weather pics are fabulous, too.

Playing out another session of patience, looking out over the Mekong plain at Champasak, Laos. This is from Vat Phou, an 11th century Khmer temple; earlier Hindu and later Buddhist – now a UNESCO heritage site.

This. Wonderful. A sense of people totally belonging in their milieu - the landscape as habitat.

Abram - these are really great pictures - is it an outside theatre / art installation? You said you pushed the 800T one stop - how did you go about that exactly (metering and processing-wise).

Yes it was a temporary installation at a place called Descanso Gardens in Pasadena, CA. I was shooting my M-A so I just estimated my exposure. I pretty much left the aperture at f/1.4 and bounced between 1/60 and 1/30 hoping it would bring in enough ambient light from the installations (I wanted the images to have a dark / moody feel to them). Cinestill 800T responds fairly well to push processing I’ve found. I don’t develop color film at home but my lab does a pretty solid job with it. I believe pushing Cinestill 800 one stop doesn’t get you to 1600 ISO though it’s more of an EI 1250 I’ve found.

Either way, most of the images had the right look for what I was intending.

Steve - Presumably the scan has adjustments from the settings in the scanner software. Is the camera digitalization SOOC? It would be good to see the best image from both with your post-processing.

Mitch, both versions have 'post' adjustments according to my 'taste' on different day separated by a few weeks. Rather than clutter the 'I like film' thread, which is more about images than technique (and I fully respect that), I'll do a controlled side by side test and post the results in the BEOON thread, the original that you started.

Literally a stone's throw (albeit a fairly long one) from Pichon Baron is Pichon Comtesse which was part of the same estate initially but split off in 1850. It's much less magnificent imho but still a nice building.

This is a back stair in the Courtauld Institute in London. Along with an interesting building, there is a remarkable collection. XP2

Leica M4-2 Leitz 21mm f3.5 Super Angulon. Ilford XP2. printed on Canson Platine Fibre Rag inkjet paper26051822508_68174dde56_h.jpg

Great print quality here! I regret selling my SA21 now, I needed more time to learn the lens, though I seldom got such even exposure from it as you have here.

Paul I love that you’re from half-way around the world and yet wound up in Murrieta. That’s my hometown and I used to go to that very VW dealership for service on my cars ha! What a small world.
