stray cat Posted January 27, 2018 Share #46461 Posted January 27, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here's another from my 4am trek to Central Park a few weeks ago... I didn't have a meter, and my iPhone died so had to count out loud, so I don't recall the exact exposure time. But I do recall that I was pretty miserable in the -15C temperature kicking myself for not bringing enough clothing layers I think the exposure time was between 8--10 minutes; some of the ducks have more patience than I will ever have. Acros 100, SWC Central Park morning.jpg This is incredible. You keep upping your own ante, Adam. You'll have to have that meter surgically inserted somewhere that you can't forget it! Not that forgetting it mattered at all - a bit like Ansel with Moonrise! Those earlier inclement weather pics are fabulous, too.

stray cat Posted January 27, 2018 Share #46462 Posted January 27, 2018 Playing out another session of patience, looking out over the Mekong plain at Champasak, Laos. This is from Vat Phou, an 11th century Khmer temple; earlier Hindu and later Buddhist – now a UNESCO heritage site. Vat Phou9.jpg T-Max 400 This. Wonderful. A sense of people totally belonging in their milieu - the landscape as habitat.
Abram Posted January 27, 2018 Share #46463 Posted January 27, 2018 Abram - these are really great pictures - is it an outside theatre / art installation? You said you pushed the 800T one stop - how did you go about that exactly (metering and processing-wise). Yes it was a temporary installation at a place called Descanso Gardens in Pasadena, CA. I was shooting my M-A so I just estimated my exposure. I pretty much left the aperture at f/1.4 and bounced between 1/60 and 1/30 hoping it would bring in enough ambient light from the installations (I wanted the images to have a dark / moody feel to them). Cinestill 800T responds fairly well to push processing I’ve found. I don’t develop color film at home but my lab does a pretty solid job with it. I believe pushing Cinestill 800 one stop doesn’t get you to 1600 ISO though it’s more of an EI 1250 I’ve found. Either way, most of the images had the right look for what I was intending.
stray cat Posted January 27, 2018 Share #46464 Posted January 27, 2018 I agree - the images work well. When it's working (ie without schmootz) 800T is a sensational film, and great in this context.

Steve Ricoh Posted January 27, 2018 Share #46467 Posted January 27, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Steve - Presumably the scan has adjustments from the settings in the scanner software. Is the camera digitalization SOOC? It would be good to see the best image from both with your post-processing.Mitch, both versions have 'post' adjustments according to my 'taste' on different day separated by a few weeks. Rather than clutter the 'I like film' thread, which is more about images than technique (and I fully respect that), I'll do a controlled side by side test and post the results in the BEOON thread, the original that you started.
philipus Posted January 27, 2018 Share #46468 Posted January 27, 2018 Literally a stone's throw (albeit a fairly long one) from Pichon Baron is Pichon Comtesse which was part of the same estate initially but split off in 1850. It's much less magnificent imho but still a nice building. Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande Flickr 40 CFE Ektar 100
