Very nice Antonio. And yes, either you did something right, with reward to follow, or you didn't and was made to suffer. So which was it :D

br

Philip

On Dec 23rd we went out for lunch at a seafood place in Savelletri. Amazing risotto alla marinara. The mixed fried seafood was good as well.

We traded the canonical white wine with a good beer from some local brewery. Salute.

Antonio has already had all the reward he could possibly deserve by being on the receiving end of that look! Great photo.

Lovely Phil, this is a beautiful composition (and thank you for your earlier comments - yes, I am the lucky bloke - she is my wife - an accomplished actress and opera singer as well as a mother - she is the subject of the recent Breast Cancer Clinic publicity shots, including the dog jumping on the beach - they wanted a 'mature model' - she fitted the bill, and was sympathetic to the project for several reasons ...).

P.S. similar thing happened to me!  I ordered a 2nd hand copy of Dr Paul Wolff's  "My Experiences in Color Photography".  And it was wonderful, and all the text was in German (at school the only 'foreign' language on offer was Latin) and it didn't matter a bit - good work crosses language barriers.

Thank you so much Dan. I am glad both you and your wife are able to so actively support the Breast Cancer Clinic. We lost a very dear friend to it just before Christmas.

Good to know I'm not the only one who had to struggle with Latin at school. We also had French, though, which I quite liked even though I'm no good at it (although marginally less bad than I was at Latin).

This picture is superb Phil , composition and b&w tone I see it's Ilford

Thank you so much Henry. Yes, I think if there was no Tri-X I could easily use FP4+ exclusively - a wonderful film, always was.

OK, this one's a bit difficult. I worked with Janet. She was a patient as well. And now she has died of lung cancer, as one of the unlucky 10% who never smoked.

She was one of those lovely people, so common here in a relatively poor rural community, who would do anything for you if you asked. It was my pleasure to know her for thirty years, and my honour to care for her as a physician. I still go up to the hospital when I hear that one of my old friends is dying and go in to visit them before they go out of the back door. This visit was one of the harder ones, which is why it has taken me a long time to catch up with her passing. So long, Janet.

Doc.

Terribly sorry to hear of the loss of your great friend, Chris. The photographs show a happy and intelligent spirit. In some small measure she will always live on for you in those.

Inspiring. Nothing more can be asked of photographs. Being rural, myself, I am well familiar with such lovely folks........And with the tragedy of chronic and sometimes fatal illness. Living with such people lends a richness of a much higher quality.....A quality apparent in these photos. Thanks to your contribution, it is impossible to think of this lovely woman as anything other than..... alive. I am grateful. Thank you.

An Homage:

The Mercedes Turbo Diesel Wagon. Were it not for the existence of this model, I could easily declare 911SC  the greatest of all automobiles.  While it lives in an entirely different universe than Elfer, it dominates its universe just as completely.....At least in my mind. This one lives down the street from me and is shown here in context: a daily driver. No garage queen, this one.

Long live the 123 Mercs. :) I will gift myself with one when I retire.
