I am back from my roadtrip through the Netherlands, Belgium and France. While I was away shooting with my Minilux only, a letter from Mr. Nakamura arrived. As I did the preparation of my M3 before my trip, I could already install the new covering:

This was just a quick snapshot, I will make some more pictures of the newly covered M3 later. I really like the results and will try out this newborn classic soon. In about two weeks time I will also contribute some of the pics from my travels in this thread. In the meantime I will follow the progress here with ongoing joy and interest :)

Nice picture! I love Agfa CT 100 Precisa. Did you make any correction afterwards?

Here is the picture as "seen" by my scanner, Nikon Coolscan LS-40:

In Lightroom I adjusted WB (+1000), exposure (+ 0.25), contrast (-3) recovered some lights (-78), shadows (+65), white (+2), black (-6). That's it.

Here for comparison the picture I posted before:

Thanks James for your description. It seems to me the same as with my slide pictures. After scanning I have to raise the exposure to get same look like the original slide.

Yes indeed, there are differences, with the processed picture showing the scene as I saw it in reality and how the slide looks like when projected on the wall. The scanner has its problems with slides, as they are very dense and the scanner is not able to resolve the full dynamic range of the slides.

Two perhaps not very interesting photos from 24 March 2016 when Trial Chamber I of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia issued its judgement in Prosecutor v Radovan Karadzic. I happened then to have with me a Rollei XF35, which is a rangefinder camera with an ok 40mm Sonnar lens. The first is of the Tribunal's rather impressive satellite dish and the second is of the media tents put up on the lawn outside the building with a journalist rehearsing a text. Shot on out of date Kloppenburg Premier Edition 200.

Oh, very nice indeed, James. A delicious combination. I'm sorry to have missed you during your trip in these parts. Do let me know next time you come over to NL.

What a wonderful and dramatic mountain photo. I think the colours are very natural-looking.

Just post in Pete thread about the Nikon D850 :

https://petapixel.com/2017/08/24/nikon-d850-doubles-45-7mp-film-scanner/

but as you know I am not interested , because it's like you shoot digital again

with disadvantage you know

Are there no redeeming qualities of shooting film and camera scanning, eg with aid of a BEOON? I hope so, I've just purchased the BEOON comply stand, an enlarger lens and will be using my M240. I plan mainly B&W using this technique, reserving the Plustek for colour - probably slides - but it's an awfully slow process.

Phil, that street sign makes it my opinion, and well crafted too. Some photographers just take pictures of other's art, graffiti etc, without adding their own vision. This transcends straight jacket vision!

When I first looked at photo I thought it was one of Adam's. I guess I am complimenting both of you.

Best,

Wayne

Exactly I am like Wayne ... this green with its nuance and shade is superb

It's Adam style with his NYC tags :)

Thanks Phil for posting

Thank you so much Steve, Wayne and Henry. I am a huge fan of Adam's graffiti photographs so that really is a compliment! Steve, your comment is very interesting, as I distinctly remember walking by the wall a few times and tossing around in my mind how best to take it. This is the only shot I made of it whereas normally I might have tried two or three different approaches. Hmmm - "straight jacket vision" - I like that!

The redeeming factors that occasioned my purchase of a Beoon:-

No electronic failures

No bulb failures

No jammed gearing or worn out mechanism

No crud on the mirror (impossible to remove SAFELY)

No fretting over any of the above knowing all service facilities have closed down

No scouring the globe when any of the above occur

Facing the cost of replacement if/when the above happen

Speed

Ease of use

I could go on but I think you get the drift.

I'll keep my dedicated film scanners for sure, Minolta MultiPro and Elite 11, but reserve their use perchance one day I may shoot something worthwhile and deserved of a print. In between, for online sharing and keeping my interest in shooting film without spending hours at a scanner, the Beoon will reign.

Nice job Adam. With a Hasselblad and a dead sea, the closer you get the scarier it gets!

For some time I have been contemplating to acquire a BEOON myself. I would be very interested in your experiences, setup and workflow, once it is established. I would specifically be interested in how you handle lighting, distancing, positioning and film transport/image alignement. Perhaps you could consider opening a new thread on this?

(I currently have two dedicated film scanners, one for slide magazines and one for film rolls, but both suffer to some degree from banding artefacts, sometimes barely visible, but in homogeneous midrange clear skies they can be a nuisance, thus I would be grateful for an alternative)

Kind regards

Mathias

What a wonderful pastime to check out this thread; a never-ending story of learning and opportunities. Just picking out a few examples to comment on (I simply don't have enough time to comment on more):

Jean Marc, what curious, intense colours!

I love these shots. They seem to come from some "dark side", and the strong contrasts compliment the mood well.

A couple more with Tri-X and the M3 to see if I'm on the right track

Thanks for any advise

This person almost steps out of the screen. Please show some more of the T3 pictures, I'd be curious how this little lens handles other lighting situations, colours and contrasts.

Beauty well captured. The Panoramic Format well suits the endless landscape of which your protagonist appears to be a natural part. The magical colours really work well here too.

Your "new" camera obtains a slightly esoteric but not unattractive appearance (I am curious how well this beauty will age). And with such a conversation piece in your hands I am also curious of your crop of (street) pictures taken with this camera.
