Sparkassenkunde Posted August 31, 2017 Share #39407 Posted August 31, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes indeed, there are differences, with the processed picture showing the scene as I saw it in reality and how the slide looks like when projected on the wall. The scanner has its problems with slides, as they are very dense and the scanner is not able to resolve the full dynamic range of the slides. philipus Posted August 31, 2017 Share #39408 Posted August 31, 2017 Two perhaps not very interesting photos from 24 March 2016 when Trial Chamber I of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia issued its judgement in Prosecutor v Radovan Karadzic. I happened then to have with me a Rollei XF35, which is a rangefinder camera with an ok 40mm Sonnar lens. The first is of the Tribunal's rather impressive satellite dish and the second is of the media tents put up on the lawn outside the building with a journalist rehearsing a text. I hope so, I've just purchased the BEOON comply stand, an enlarger lens and will be using my M240. I plan mainly B&W using this technique, reserving the Plustek for colour - probably slides - but it's an awfully slow process.
stray cat Posted September 1, 2017 Share #39414 Posted September 1, 2017 (edited) Phil, that street sign makes it my opinion, and well crafted too. Some photographers just take pictures of other's art, graffiti etc, without adding their own vision. This transcends straight jacket vision! When I first looked at photo I thought it was one of Adam's. I guess I am complimenting both of you. Best, Wayne Exactly I am like Wayne ... this green with its nuance and shade is superb It's Adam style with his NYC tags Thanks Phil for posting Thank you so much Steve, Wayne and Henry. I am a huge fan of Adam's graffiti photographs so that really is a compliment! Steve, your comment is very interesting, as I distinctly remember walking by the wall a few times and tossing around in my mind how best to take it. This is the only shot I made of it whereas normally I might have tried two or three different approaches. Hmmm - "straight jacket vision" - I like that! I'll keep my dedicated film scanners for sure, Minolta MultiPro and Elite 11, but reserve their use perchance one day I may shoot something worthwhile and deserved of a print. In between, for online sharing and keeping my interest in shooting film without spending hours at a scanner, the Beoon will reign. I would be very interested in your experiences, setup and workflow, once it is established. I would specifically be interested in how you handle lighting, distancing, positioning and film transport/image alignement. Perhaps you could consider opening a new thread on this? (I currently have two dedicated film scanners, one for slide magazines and one for film rolls, but both suffer to some degree from banding artefacts, sometimes barely visible, but in homogeneous midrange clear skies they can be a nuisance, thus I would be grateful for an alternative) Kind regards Mathias Edited September 1, 2017 by schattenundlicht
