Did some rescanning this weekend and tried the EpsonScan software in comparison to Vuescan. Both have there problems, especially with Velvia. One thing I noticed in scanning negative film is that with EpsonScan I get a small vertical magenta streak at the same position on every scan. In some cases the EpsonScan produces the colors more convincingly and natural, while in other cases, as i.e. the white/blue Beetle I showed some pages before, it couldn't get the right balance. It is very puzzling and I will have to switch between EpsonScan and Vuescan and try to find the color mix that suits me best.  Luckily I don't need colorproof results for professional purposes

The next shot is a Velvia one in which EpsonScan did a good job imho:

There are two little Windows on the top edge of the scan bed. Clean those and make sure they're dust free before scanning. That'll fix the line issue.

striking.  Nailed the exposure and I am impressed by the lens....

Thank you. I think I like the lens better with film than digital, where it always seemed too modern.

I'm not pleased with my processing this time, but become a little wiser with each roll.

Aussies sure do love to drive on the beach. Sometimes it's a practical necessity, mostly it's lazy people with beer/fishing rod.

looks like no-man's land out there.  Fantastic colors.  I like the slight coolness you are getting from the Pro 400H

I've been to a lot of "mini" places, but none like that!

Love the mid-tone rich rendition of the Acros.  Is that how you would describe it?  A little like the Delta 100 only a little more contrasty, but not as much as Tri-X? ??

Currently I'm on the fence between Acros, Delta and XP-2. The latter is by far more flexible and easier to scan but Delta seems sharper and Acros has the tones. Tricky one.

Thanks.  I like it when there's no right answer.  Makes it more fun and interesting!

I hope this allowed as a comparison of this place at night. Shot on an M240 and Summicron. Quite a spectacular venue.

Very no-mans land Adam, just miles upon miles of beautiful empty beaches in a National Park backed by big dunes and coastal scrub.

These are from the same beach as above/before, a very rough comparison of how Provia 400 liked the SWC, then Rolleiflex.

My first time ever using positive film.

Excellent results, Richard, especially for the first time.  I must say, though, The color palette on the Pro 400H has me sold.  Is the Provia 400 expired or is it still available for purchase by you?

Why John ? and which film ?

For your first comment , better surely John. When I scan film 24x36 , I obtain more than

5400x3800 px (Tiff) in comparison the half with M9 (DNG).

More definition in contrary of people who believe that digital is bigger in size

It's a false idea believing digit is bigger !  and you can see again when print, you have

more details  visible !

Best

Henry
