...   and the green is also nice IMO

attachicon.gifImage1popkp16slelprolfht++++950-20.jpg

Why I love poppies in film ?*

Lines and edges of poppies are not hypernet or too shape like "rasor cut"

and thin like cigarette paper  not thick , with consistance like in film

> Soft lines and edges in film

Red really red , not approximate red color !

Color more faithful !

A poppies hunter who takes poppies every year :)

* I have taken also some hundred poppies pictures taken with M8 and M9 and with same lens

Nice - as always :)

Henri Cartier Bresson (HCB) inspires many of my pictures in Paris

It's very hard to obtain the quality and the inspiration of this great man.

Most of his pictures are in b&w  :)

Here some modest pictures during my several balads in Paris .

HCB has taken mostly street photos in Paris in the 1950's

(look at his book "de qui s'agit il" ? ("who is he"?)

Lovely pictures. Le vrai gout de Paris. Makes me want to buy a plane ticket.

are lost (dead HD) . Fortunately I have negative . I'll scan some more poppies for you :)

The warm color is very nice Henry. I like it this way.

Edward thank you fo your comment , as I said to Christoph , all my lao pictures are also lost

but negatives are still there.  If I have time I'll scan again some more pictures

He used mostly his Leica M screw mount . I have one picture of this camera

Nice shot Brendan, my kind of picture, a subject framed within the frame gives us an untold story and a lovely aesthetic. Great stuff.

Thank you!

Absolutely beautiful Brendan

A great picture :)

Thanks Henry!

Another great photograph with fantastic composition!

I follow your work both here and on Flickr and I'm finding it a helpful guide to 'tune' my own vision (without copying you of course). I now firmly believe that I walk past many opportunities when I'm out, and that I need to open my eyes more to 'see' photographically.

Please post more of your excellent images.

Thank you Steve!  I try to always have some sort of camera with me, and keep an eye out for opportunities.

I agree with Steve :)

Great eyes for catching  "at the right moment" à la manière de Henri Cartier Bresson

It's difficult , very difficult IMO to do that  ... great patience needed too !

Great work , and in film it's better

I think Brendan must print some of his masterpieces  pictures , framed and hanged on wall

Best

Henry

Yes, definitely, and preferably hanging on my wall - silver gelatin of course. :)

Much appreciated Henry and Steve!  I do print some of my work, but I don't currently own a full-size photo printer and don't have a location permanent enough for a darkroom, so I usually only make 4x6 prints from a small portable printer that I have for now.  I have a few 11x14s, 16x20s and two 30x30s that I had made up at a local lab.  Hoping to get an inkjet printer next year, and have room for a darkroom in the next few years.  I would really like to get printing on a regular basis.

Here's one from last winter.  This is from the only FP4 roll that I've shot in 35mm, need to get a few more rolls for landscape work!

I was riding around back in May, and came across the remains of the hydro-electric dam on the Pigg River in Franklin County, VA.  I had read about its removal some months before, but the project was well along by the time the Roanoke paper got wind of it.  I used a Leica R7 that needed a shake-down run, on Kodak Ektar 100, with the Vario Elmar-R 35-70mm 1:3.5 (my 28mm is in the shop).

A slightly lengthy post.  Earlier this week I posted on the 'R Forum' that I was considering adding a Leica SLR to my armoury by buying an R-E or R5 plus possibly a 35-70mm f3.5 or 60mm f2.8.  Then I realised I had a pristine Olympus OM2n sitting on the shelf.  On Friday I put a roll of Acros100 through it (see earlier post for first results - post #36215) and they, plus the ones below leave me in something of a quandary.  What will I gain from the Leica glass over and above that from the Zuiko 50mm f1.8? Probably better bokeh.  More 'character'?  'Glow'?  How does one assign value to such undefinable terms?  For the price of just the R5 I could buy enough colour film to keep me going for years!   Add in the price of a Leica R lens and I could buy just about all Zuiko OM lens on the the market!

I wound up putting together a nice Olympus kit, and then abandoned it.  Love the lenses, can't stand the cameras.  It took me a long time before I got my first R (3), am now on my second (7), and looking for my third (6.2).  I much prefer the handling and operation of the R system gear over the Olympus.  But then I'm kind of used to using big old cameras (early Nikon gear).  But if you don't need to have the expenditure of a new system, I can understand your sticking with the Olympus.  There are plenty of quirks in the R system that a neophyte like myself comes across much to my surprise.  That comes from no longer having any kind of a film camera shop within 50 miles, and the ones beyond there are not conversant in the Leica R system.

James - I couldn't be more envious of a cinestill user.  But I promise that I am not bitter.  Sublime blue on this car - wow.
