Thank you. That is true. However, I, too, wonder about the banding. One thing I have noticed is that it seems a phenomenon exclusive to my Barnack cameras. While very low exposure does result in high graininess when Ms- or virtually any of my non-Leica cameras- are used, the noticeable banding is not there. It may be a ridiculous speculation, but I sometimes wonder if modern emulsions reveal a characteristic, associated with Barnack camera shutter curtain action, not apparent when ancient emulsions were in use.

 

The below was taken in very low light with M3 and 50mm Summicron DR. I forget film used but am pretty confident would have been ISO 400. It was most likely developed in Rodina, and using the same develpment technique and equipment.....No banding.

Thx. I may still just see some banding 1/4 th from the bottom, under the window. Apart from the shutter curtain - perhaps in need of a CLA - the scanner could also be the culprit.

I have a couple of these for non-camera bags. They are very adaptable and about the perfect height for your application.

Compared with your earlier shots on Vista 200, the images on the Fuji 400 are more appealing in terms of colour depth/saturation - which gives me pause for thought as I still have a dozen rolls of 35mm Vista in the freezer...

In the same place you can find mud-wooden house typical of this area

like in the coast of Normandy but far from around 400 kms  :)

...  these houses have inspired some paintings of Pierre Auguste Renoir

This type of house keeps better heat in winter than modern concrete

and fresh air inside in summer

The Summicron 35 Asph is also a great lens , cheaper than Summilux 35

and gives a nice rendering in b&w

.... and I like the skin color here : very nice and natural color of skin  !

some digital cameras add a magenta skin !

...   cloudy day but camera and film work well .

Digital camera will give you a modified picture in increasing luminosity or modifying the aspect

It's a distortion IMO  .  I prefer keeping this natural aspect of that day !

A few years ago, a new neighbour spying me with one of my Leicas over my shoulder said "ah, I see you are into vintage cameras" (!) "I was just about to throw out this bag of old camera stuff - would you like it?"  One of the items was a pristine-looking Olympus OM2n with 50mm Zuiko Auto-S lens - and yesterday I put a roll of Acros 100 through it...

Thank you very much for your comments Keith. The Pro 400H is really at a different level than the Vista. Not to say that the Vista is bad, but I wouldn't use it when faithful color reproduction is important. It does produce interesting reults though.
