EoinC Posted March 25, 2017 Share #29561 Posted March 25, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everybody and a big thanks for your support! I do feel specially greatful because I lost my beloved 903SWC in a burglary we had during Christmas. The thief, who came through a window on the second floor, crashed both of my Hasselblad cameras when he tried to escape. Fortunately, Hasselblad could repare one, but the SWC was too damaged to work on. We were asleep, when it happened, but my husband woke and the thief disappeared over the roofs in our street. Very much like the 'cat' in an old Hichcook film. Anyway, all of you with an SWC can imagine how I feel... I'am still waiting for insurance to pay up and this is and has been very frustating times. Thank you again to all of you! All the best, Xenia That's terrible news, Xenia, but at least nobody was hurt in the event. I hope you begin your replacement search soon, as we know how much you treasure the SWC. If there is nothing available locally, Japan has a bounty of great condition units. Following great advice from Bellamy Hunt ( http://www.japancamerahunter.com/ ), I picked up mine (903) from: http://cameranonaniwa.jp/shop/default.aspx They were scrupulously honest, customer-centric, and professional in my dealings with them. Whatever path you chose (including it being an excuse for a X1D / 22mm...), I hope you are back to fully functional again soon, and that the event has not traumatised you and your family.

dmitchell Posted March 25, 2017 Share #29565 Posted March 25, 2017 Here are two photos of a lioness we were able to follow for a while. When we arrived she had just hunted and we could observe her trying to teach her cubs how to eat (in the photos to come). You see one of the cubs in the background, being more interested in playing around than eating. 1N Velvia 50 (RVP) Flickr 200/2.8L+2x Flickr 200/2.8L I thought these looked great on my phone. But they're even more impressive on a real monitor! Thanks for sharing this amazing series.

Xenia Posted March 25, 2017 Share #29570 Posted March 25, 2017 What an awful experience, Xenia. I wonder if burglars ever consider what more they take from people than the actual objects. Hope you are able to find a new SWC once the insurance comes through, and look forward to seeing more of your Laurels in the Mist! Thank you, Phil! Not sure, that burglars think of anything else than getting away with the loot. Apart from the chock there are all the practicals like police inquiries, heaps of paperwork, replacement of stolen / destroyed material etc. Pretty much everything goes suddenly in slow motion like walking in deep sand. Thanks again for your concern! Best, Xenia

Thank you, Eoin! Well, my husband got a black eye from a door that was thrown at him. Anyway, he came away lightly. Of course, we all react differently to an incident like that. My husband was up to the chase ! Our neighbors didn't react at all. They thought we had noisy guests. I myself felt being stopped in my tracks, almost being paralysed - at least for a while. Shortly before Christmas, we booked a week to Marrachech. Besides sunshine and blue sky every day, the change of scenery put some distance and perspective to the whole affair. When the claim comes through, I will buy another superwide, not sure which though. To find a mint SWC Japan is the place to look, that's for sure. So thank you very much for the links, Eoin ! Xenia Posted March 25, 2017 Share #29572 Posted March 25, 2017 Against the odds. Fuji GX617 Ilford Delta 100 It sure worked fine - against the odds ! I wonder, how cumbersome you find the GX617 in cross country? I was quite close to buy one recently, only the seller withdrew at short notice. The weight is almost similar to the 203FE with a 40mm lens. But the bulk could be awkward. I have been thinking for a while to step up to real panorama size from the XPan. Up to now I have been able to print A2 without problem. Though not sure about bigger exhibition prints. Could you please share your experience with the GX617? philipus Posted March 25, 2017 Share #29578 Posted March 25, 2017 Thanks for posting the results of your test, Chris. I'm very impressed with the smooth tonality. I think I've come to the end of my experiments, with ISO 800 now completed. It seems it's easy to pull XP2, and to push to 800 and 1600. 3200 is hit and miss as being a half-stop out in the exposure ruins the picture. Here's an example of ISO 800, using HC-110 1+49, for 13.5 minutes: Experiments in Push Processing 12 by chrism229, on Flickr C. In case it helps, the reliable Jan Lauritz at classiccamera.se doesn't have a 903 at the moment but a SWC T*. L-Foto.se has five different SWC models in stock, including a 903, but he tends to charge more than a bit too much for his stuff which I find annoying. The Finnish kameratori.fi has a pretty good stock of Hasselblad stuff too and for reasonable money. Thank you, Eoin!Well, my husband got a black eye from a door that was thrown at him. chrism Posted March 25, 2017 Share #29579 Posted March 25, 2017 Thanks for posting the results of your test, Chris. I'm very impressed with the smooth tonality. That's the point for me: I can push XP2 to 800 or 1600 and there is NO grain, merely some more boredom turning the developing tank. Rational people might be amused at the outrage this suggestion caused at APUG. C.
