WONDERFUL and respect for getting this out of Velvia 50 :)

Sunrise at Turimetta in Sydney's Northern Beaches area.

Hasselblad, 80mm Planar, Velvia 50

I got this scanned in an Imacon scanner and the amount of detail and the tonality in the image is astounding.

I rue the 3 or so (lost) years I was shooting digital at the expense of film - not to mention the holidays I went on, leaving behind the Hasselblad due to weight considerations.

I just love the rendition of this shot.  Reminds me of the time we lost our then 5 year old in the crowd on the Coney Island beach and found him after about 30 lifeless minutes.  That was the last family time we had at that beach!

Very nice, Philip.  One of Provia's strengths is its LE potential w/o reciprocity failure.  Up to 1 minute, I believe!

Shot from our house. One of my first rolls with the Hasselblad two years ago, testing longer shutter speeds.

Lovely Keith, although you might check the leveling...

One more from the roll of Portra 400 in Lacock. St Cyriac's Church.  Hasselblad 500C, 60mm, Distagon CB.

I've never thought of the Fuji as really heavy, but it is very bulky.  I never use my Hasselblad handheld, it's always on a tripod but I certainly feel the weight with lenses, film and filters etc in the backpack.

My days of carrying a backpack full of gear plus a tripod are long gone. When I bought the GW690II I thought that at 1.6kg it would be the final word in what I could manage to carry.  However, the lure of Hasselblad and scratching a very long-held itch proved to strong!  With the 80mm Planar the 500C weighs circa 1.73kg whereas with the 60mm Distagon it is 180g heavier and I do notice the difference.  I'm pushing my luck carrying the 500C fitted with the Distagon (plus a 2nd A12 back) around for a max of two hours (which is what I did on the visit to Lacock).

Keith,

My admiration for people who can hand hold the beast and come up with a sharp image in unbounded :-).

Nicely done.

I make a pretty good bipod!   ;)

I can hear the breakers and feel the wind from the Baltic sea photo, very atmospheric!

All of this makes me want to run a few rolls through my M6 and Dad's IIIf.

How are you guys processing your color film nowadays? Is there a good US based source to process and scan at the same time? My preference would be color slides (real preference would be Kodachrome, but I understand that's not possible now...) Let's say I expose a few rolls of Velvia. Where do you guys send that out?

Sorry if this is all covered here in this thread. It's nearly 1300 pages after all !!!

If you look on the net there is a possibility of Kodachrome coming back their CEO says he is looking to see if it is viable

Kodak BW400CN, C41, Leica M3, 21/2.8 Elmarit-M. Fairy Door No. 24, at our local national park opposite our house.

I am beginning to get a feel for this film now. I like the textures in this one. Really pleased it came out sharp as the focusing was a complete guess on this one. I would have had to lie down on the ground to get this one! It was far too wet for that, and I'm too lazy....

Got some really nice results now that I feel happy about.

I love the snow series. Excellent! Aside from the pleasure of viewing the images, it makes me feel not so unusual in my habits. Every time I grab a camera and head out the door in unpleasant weather, my wife and/or daughters look at me like...........Well, you probably know the look. :)

Thank you so much Adam, and to everyone who said thanks.

Adam, I can only presume to imagine the horror you must have felt. It would have been a terrible half hour, and your relief at finding him must have been overwhelming. Certainly parental instincts come to the fore when a child is in trouble or lost. The closest we came when our boys were little was when we were "those people" who had to have an announcement put over the speakers in a shopping mall that their child had been found and would his parents please come and collect him! He'd only been gone a couple of minutes!
