Lovely posts Henry.  Great colours, and I mean really lovely,  and the B&W's too.

Don't let the digi fanatics people grind you down...but you've got a thick skin...

I admire your humanitarian work.

all the best Dave S

Thank you Dave :)

In some thread where I fight against the "ayatollahs" of digital temple, where we have to say anything

except that the digital is perfect and stop denigration...

it warms my heart to see that I have a defender of the analog and the film remains for the moment the

best support in waiting a perfect sensor may be one day ....

Yes I will return next year for another mission may be in Cambodia :)

Best regards

Henry

Thank you Xenia

I think you'll return soon to b&w :D

It's so nice in film

Regards

Henry

Look at this picture in b&w Kodak TMAX

Hurricane weather that day in Reunion Island (Indian Ocean)

Black and White film reproduces very well this "dramatic" atmosphere.

Clouds are made by microdroplets of water with grain of film a great symbiosis ! :)

....  like fog : no "smoothing" square pixels by camera photo software giving

a "plastified"  aspect of clouds and fog

Fog can be nice in coulor too!

For you, Henry, an example of my pano project :)

As I continue to fight against ayatollahs :) of digital temple

here a proof of 2 pictures of fog one with film and one with my digit M8

same lens M8-28 mm (equivalent 35mm)  and M7-35 mm

What happened to the water microdroplets of fog which refresh your face ?

Plastic smooth aspect :( versus grain aspect :) in the air and in water

Clouds and fog same fight !

Pictures taken at the same time and moment at 7am at minus 5°C

I'll post crop for you , difference is more visible

I think you'll recognize immediatly film

Not needed I put what camera ....

Henry,

The second one here is exquisite. Balance, tension, depth, subtle tones, true colours. Delightful.

Cheers

Your love for film is well known, Henry :)

Most of my work is done on film and I love film too.

(The pano project is shot on Fuji Sensia and Velvia.)

But I have to draw a fine line between private and pro work.

I am not a fan of digital. My M9 had to go again.

I have tried the Hassy H4D40 and the CFV50 and didn't like these either.

But not because of bad results, but because of ergonomics.

Right now, I have a dilemma.

I am preparing an exhibition, but the 24x65mm panos print only up to 35x90cm.

The gallery want to put bigger prints on their walls.

That is why I have been looking at the new X1D and its ability to shoot pano.

The print from these panos would be in the region of 50x130cm.

The gallery would be satisfied.

But would I be?

There is another option.

I was recently in Berlin and had a look at the Linhof Technorama 612.

The negatives would be 6x12 cm and stunningly to print.

The price for both cameras is about the same.

But there is a catch: size and weight.

The Linhof 612 and 617 are monsters to carry over uneven grounds.

They need a sturdy tripod.

They produce only 4 or 6 pics per roll.

The cost of film and development will be a heavy burden.

As will be paper and printing, not to think of framing.

Would I love printing these slides?

Oh yes :)

But I clearly need a sherpa, if I follow my love for film.

Beautiful, and different Xenia.  So relaxing and full of charm; man and beast in the fog; a feeling of total trust and care.

You guys are so inspiring; just ordered more film.  Now to find the subjects...

Thank you, David!

I am grateful :)

Why not print yourself for small size and give big size to lab ?

Some lab can print in silver print , case in Paris

I have an enlarger Focomat and I print more than 30x40 cms

It's really nice when you print and do yourself

For Linhof Adam will answer you I believe he has one :)

Sure it's heavy for you but the result is superb . Adam showed us above

some of his pictures

X1D or another MF digital are digital and not film ... you already know my opinion.

but you must enlarge so big 130cms ?

In any case , you do a good and great job ! bravo :)

I really like this one, Xenia. Great colours and textures.

Thank you, Eoin!

The SWC is in my opinion of the best cameras ever made.

Not to heavy, easy to use and with an IQ unsurpassed.

(One of my photos was printed once 2x2 meters.)

Also, it is almost undestructable, like the M3 or M6.

Best wishes,

Xenia

With great thanks to Gary (NZ), today I took possession of a nice SA 21mm f/3.4 from Aotearoa. I'm hoping to take it out this weekend for a bit of a run.

Enjoy Eoin! Mine has a dented filter ring, lots of Schneideritis and no hood but I love it more than any shiny new ASPH lens. The 0.4m MFD is a treat for my MP too.

A shot of my son playing Pokemon on HP5 with SA 21/3.4.
