Doc Henry Posted June 28, 2016 Author Share #17666 Posted June 28, 2016 You know my preference most of the time Henry, but the JM series in Yemen, well, it's that muted almost earthy colour that whatever it was he used that is striking a chord with me. Gary Yes Gary I know, but you'll see with age you'll change And a slight change of tack, this is an NZ Weta, actually a very old insect, I'd have to check, but we always liken them to a dinosaur. Scary as heck though, especially if they get on you without your knowing, one did to me one night, but that's another story. Fuji RDP. Gary Stunning picture Gary ... it's so big in NZ and nice color Best Henry
Doc Henry Posted June 28, 2016 Author Share #17667 Posted June 28, 2016 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) There is something unique about the poppies of France Henry, your photograph(s) bring a poignancy (at least to me) and this one especially speaks in unwritten words which are comforting. Merci Charles Thank you Charles coming from you I am happy Now I know I am not alone for poppies I like the pure and natural red of this flower , unique IMO and it reminds me a lot blood Best Henry Edited June 28, 2016 by Doc Henry

Doc Henry Posted June 28, 2016 Author Share #17674 Posted June 28, 2016 (edited) Film cannot be compared with digital . One of the reasons , that's the "nuance" Look at this picture , softness, sweetness and no agressivity , no "cutting" edges lines of flowers ... finally picture is like a painting and impressionist Monet is right to paint poppies so beautiful flowers and red in addition ! for all poppies lovers and in contre jour a must Kodak Portra 160 (dev home lab Tetenal 30°C) Leica M7 - Apo Summicron 90 Asph , also one of Leica fabulous lens Welcome, dear visitor! MT0227 Posted June 28, 2016 Share #17679 Posted June 28, 2016 Gary, The SWC Bug is a nasty little bug but once bitten you will learn to drink the cool-aid. Here are a few things I've learned along the way using it handheld in less-controlled scenarios. I typically shoot at a much slower pace, and let the frame come to me. I will find an active location, zone focus to a spot and wait for something fun to enter the frame. For starters try shooting around f5.6/8.0; at 8 feet away your DOF is about 8ft/15ft. One you get beyond 10ft at f8 you DOF is approx 6ft to Inf. The SWC becomes more of less a point and shoot at f8; just leave 1/3 of fame in foreground as a guide or just shoot it at the Hyper-focal distance for larger more distant shots. As Adam said, keep it level, which goes with my first point...I shoot slow..no meter, no fcous,..etc. just take your time with this one - Which VF do you have? The finders that came with late SWC/Ms..903/905 have an eye cup, a built in level and considered 'better' Your other option is to try and grab a Voigtlander 6x6 finder for the SWC; they are expensive, hard to find, but worth every cent. Enjoy your SWC, hope it starts to work for you soon! ~Marc Yes, in a word, painful it is Eoin. If all I had was a few older trannies in anything larger than 35mm I'd not be bothering, but the SWC bug got me a week ago, found one, in need of a CLA, and this has been done. It's a weird beast, not sure if it is destined to stay with me, but I'll give it a go. The finder for example is non-glasses friendly, in fact without glasses it isn't even friendly. I'm not sure if I want to use it as a view camera, on a tripod with the ground-glass back, so we'll see how the first few rolls go. If it stays, then I am up the creek, and will source an Epson, an older one to start with, to get my feet wet so to speak. Gary
MT0227 Posted June 28, 2016 Share #17680 Posted June 28, 2016 The voigtlander 6x6 is a 21mm; so I think yes. ? If so, a simple 21mm finder with bright lines would suffice? Maybe. Time will tell. Gary
