A miller Posted June 19, 2016 Share #17263 Posted June 19, 2016 On 5th Avenue at the Museum Mile Festival ..... Among the many things going on, they give out chalk....In this electronic day and age, so many young people still love the idea of drawing on the streets ...... film here is Cinestill 50 ... lens is 35mm summicron ASPH ... Leica M4 .. nice one, Steve. She is almost finished writing "Shalom" (peace) in Hebrew. EoinC Posted June 19, 2016 Share #17264 Posted June 19, 2016 This is a 5x magnification from near centre on the earlier RPX-25 shot. This was at ISO 3200 on the A7R, but the subtlety of the film is impressive... A002 by Eoin Christie, on Flickr

philipus Posted June 19, 2016 Share #17266 Posted June 19, 2016 Sterling stuff Eoin. So you shoot five frames for your 6x6 and stitch in post - is it easy to stitch? Btw, Plasticman began an interesting thread at RFF to start a community effort in devising the best digitizing setup. Rollei RPX-25 stand-developed in DDX @ 1:9. Sorry about the (very) dirty negative - I was more interested in how the tones come out than the neg itself. This film has great tonality ("scanned" with an A7R w/ EF MP-E 65mm)... A001 by Eoin Christie, on Flickr I like this a lot Steve. Very cinematic and a great expression, not to mention the excellent idea that people need to write more with their hands. I was shocked to learn last year that as of this autumn the Finnish school curriculum will not include joined-up hand-writing for primary school children. A miller Posted June 19, 2016 Share #17268 Posted June 19, 2016 how does one digitally stitch film scans together?
EoinC Posted June 19, 2016 Share #17269 Posted June 19, 2016 how does one digitally stitch film scans together? In LR under "Photo / Edit in" there is an option to "Merge to panorama in Photoshop", Adam. It can come a bit unstuck, though, as its success depends on having enough 'distinctive commonality' between the images. Much easier just to scan...
EoinC Posted June 19, 2016 Share #17270 Posted June 19, 2016 Sterling stuff Eoin. So you shoot five frames for your 6x6 and stitch in post - is it easy to stitch? Btw, Plasticman began an interesting thread at RFF to start a community effort in devising the best digitizing setup. Thanks, Phillipus. At 1x magnification, I take 5 rows of 3, working over a light-table. The difficult part (for me) is getting the film plane parallel with the negative. The MP-E 65 has incredibly shallow depth of field, and I haven't had enough patience with my shimming, yet. I can cover it by focus-stacking, but then the file size starts to get enormous. I do my focusing, adjustments to shutter speed / aperture / ISO, and shutter-triggering on an iPad, which is a bit easier on my eyes. This just for fun, scanning looks like warp-speed by comparison.
