MT0227 Posted April 1, 2016 Share #13242 Posted April 1, 2016 Welcome Marc and you have well done because the picture is superb The bird makes the picture Best Henry Thanks Henry, I appreciate the warm welcome. I patiently waited for that bird. It took him a while to fly past the frame as my arms would attest, but I knew he would. Stunning shot Marc. Well done The detail of the buildings and the juxtaposition of them make this series of images very special. This thread can never have too many images of New York - you, Steve and Adam keep them coming. Phil/DGC -- thanks for the kind words, the are much appreciated Marc - love the photos and encourage you to share more of your film results here! Keep up the great work! Thanks Adam....credit you with pushing me back toward this direction...thanks again!!

Guest JMF Posted April 1, 2016 Share #13246 Posted April 1, 2016 (edited) I have another comparison for you all and would love to get your opinion on which you like better. This is the same "Gehry" building that I posted a B&W photo of a few months ago (I will post it again below for reference). When I took that B&W photo, I noticed that on a crisp sunny day there was a rather narrow range of exposure values (3-4). It thus struck me that this POV would be quite suitable for slide film. Well, last week I took my 6x9 and long lens back to that spot and took the follow two photos. The version with the darker sky was taken with a polarizing filter; while the other version was taken with no filters. Which do you favor? Thank you!! VELVIA 50 - 6x9 (no polarization) gehry 3.jpg Adam, no 1 for me , I'd go for a more contrasty look ! Edited April 1, 2016 by jmanivelle

Michael Geschlecht Posted April 1, 2016 Share #13253 Posted April 1, 2016 (edited) Hello Adam, As per your Post # 13225: I like the unpolarized version better. The colors look "cleaner" & more natural. I also prefer # 13225 unpolarized to # 13275. All are nice photos. It is just a matter of degree. Best Regards, Michael Edited April 1, 2016 by Michael Geschlecht
A miller Posted April 1, 2016 Share #13254 Posted April 1, 2016 Hello Adam, As per your Post # 13225: I like the unpolarized version better. The colors look "cleaner" & more natural. I also prefer # 13225 unpolarized to # 13275. All are nice photos. It is just a matter of degree. Best Regards, Michael Thank you, Michael!I have been toiling more with these color versions even more since my last post, taking into account the vibes that i have rec'd from my LUF friends today. I will make test prints of both and stare at them more in the coming months. But based on where i am at now with the renditions, i am leaning toward the polarized version. And to test it out more publicly further i have thrown up the latest version of the polarized version on my flicker page. I typically find that an image may not be in its final state but will nevertheless be ripe for sharing on this thread, as the comments and vibes that i get here are enough to open my eyes even more to the potential in the image. Great stuff Best Adam
