This is on Beacon Fell we can see from our garden, although not actually very high the visibility of the fell made it an ideal location for a warning beacon. A beacon on the fell has been recorded as early as 1002 (that is NOT a typo!!) and it formed part of the chain of beacons to warn of the approach of the Spanish Armada in 1588. What we up in the North would have actually done I don't know, crash course in Spanish perhaps?

Gary , very nice b&w pictures

To finish with 2 photos , Keith posted as comparison, I say that Fuji Film camera GS MF (6x4.5) gives a higher definition than digital. I think you have deducted yourself in what I said above, and the Fujinon lenses are of good quality and cheaper and we agree .

I do not want to offend anyone here who uses Fuji but it is a subject that interests me (I have a critical mind, I know)

especially as with my negatives, I often make enlargements and print.

For your info, I also posted pictures in LUG of :

Nikon D800 vs.M9 and also compared M8-M9 and M7-MP.

You can see them on the site LUG.

Best

Henry

There shouldn't be any difference between M7 and MP with same lens only difference could be metering and handling

I know , but my M7 is loaded with color film and MP with b&w , so I can compare even better

Just to put the comparison to bed so to speak, the first photo is from the Q, the second with the GW690II at minimum focus distance of one metre.  The 6x9cm negative never fails to impress - but there again the close-up performance of the Q is amazing (for a 28mm lens).  Obviously both cameras have their strengths and weaknesses - but both are an absolute pleasure to use (although the 1600g of the Fuji does cause problems).

My first try with Galaxy paper—I contributed to their Kickstarter about six months ago, and they went to Russia to get some paper coated with a fast emulsion, and it arrived this week. Many people were annoyed when the purported reversal paper turned out to be ordinary (but fast) paper, with reversal processing required. Harman make a direct reversal paper and it was hoped this would be the same. For myself, I am happy with the product save for one annoyance. Most photographic printing paper has an ISO of 3. This is said to be 125, and I metered it that way, allowed for a third of a stop of bellows compensation—my 450mm lens was extended to 600mm to focus this close—and it came out just right. My only problem is that when looked at 100% magnification there are all sorts of black speckles on the film. I don't think these are from my water supply.

Chamonix 10x8, Nikkor 450mm/f9, Galaxy paper negative, Ilford Multigrade developer, Epson V850 scan:
