As we are becoming aware, Nancy Reagan passed away today at the age of 94.  Here in the US we are celebrating her life.  Here are two photos that my father took of her at the 1968 Republican National Convention.

He used the same Linhof Technika Press 23 (and Zeiss lens) that I use today.

Film was a 6X7 Kodak safety film of some sort...

Enjoy and may she rest in peace...

Thanks for showing these Gary.  I now know not to add Retropan to my list of films to buy next time I need to stock up!

Don't let me put you off it Keith, if anything just the opposite, try it.

For me though, nah, not my cup of tea.

Here is a picture where color is very similar of the slides

(Fuji Velvia and Provia or possible Kodachrome)

it also reminds a lot "vivid" * color of M9 (* Erwin Puts is right)

Kodak Portra 400

Leica M7

In some portraits, I really love the Ilford Art 300.It feels almost like Baryt but a bit easier to handle.

Unfortunately my scan from the print is lightyears away from the beauty and feel of the surface.

best regards

Marc

I would just like to say what wonderful images these are. That your father captured such a relaxed and natural look (with such rich colours you only see of that era) must be quite special for you.

On another note, what a great testament to the longevity of film.

Inspired by all the great misty pictures recently I thought I would contribute one from last year, Portra 400 @200 on H1 Hasselblad with the 80mmHC.

Tree, mist, snow. All elements present and correct. :-)

Good photo.

And since I live in arguably the fog capital of this country, I have been hanging out for some real fog (it's autumn here now, so just starting). The Fog-Master from Zurich has been setting a cracking pace.

First foggy morning, I wandered about the farm. The aforementioned Retropan and the old 50 Summicron seemed natural for this task/

Hi Chris, this is a thought that has tempted me for quite some time and one which I am - being easily corrupted - more or less actively pursuing. Seeing all the wonderful photos in this thread taken with Fujis, Rolleiflexes, Pentax, SWCs and larger formats fuels in a very enjoyable way my thought process to decide which film camera to try next. Oh the options...I've had my eyes on rollfilm folders to have a pocketable MF camera but I don't exclude I'll try other cameras too. My flirtation with a digital Hasselblad is partly out of pure interest to see how the images would look and partly because I enjoy using that system and its lenses (though I accept there are major handling differences between the V and the H systems). The fact that the digital backs (as I understand it) only have useable ISO up to 800-1600 means that the camera would be somewhat similar to film, which is in itself also appealing.

Then there's also the temptation of getting one of those old high-end flatbeds like the iQ Smarts...oh my, where will this end?

Different Chris here, and with a tempting and subversive thought. Film MF cameras are generally pretty cheap now, and given that you already have the necessary skills for working with film you can have a ball playing with cameras that were only things you could daydream about years ago. It has certainly been a great pleasure for me and relatively cheap. Over the years I picked up:

Voigtlander Bessa III

Fuji GW690

Fuji GA645

Pentax 645N

Rolleiflex 2.8GX

Hasselblad 500

Hasselblad SWC

It's been great fun and I shall be sorry to send them away, as I must do one of these days. Anyway, my point stands: you can have a wonderful time with MF film and save a lot of the money you would spend on a digital back.

I really like this one Henry.

I'm in the process of scanning rolls shot in Budapest in October so here are a few impressions from the old town, which is a very pretty place (all on Pro 160S with my M4 and 50/2 v3).

Thanks Philip for your nice comment. :)

Landscape a bit foggy , some hills around in several levels , some trees ...

in color or in b&w film : the result is well reproduced by film with soft lines and natural color

Philip is't the Trabant car ?

Nice series with soft and beautiful color of Fuji Pro

Best

Henry
