Thank you Henry. That must have made quite a roar :) This is another type of aircraft photo.

This is a shot I may have posted earlier. It was shot at a small aperture (it was a very bright day on the Barrier Reef) but there's still quite a lot of vignetting. From what I understand the Summaron is a much "better" lens, optically (seem to remember Puts wrote about them). The Hektor is soft wide open and doesn't deal well with flare but I like it anyway and use it quite often. I'll see if I can dig up some street shots taken with it.

Interest, Philip.  That f6.3 lens is, I think, older than the 5.6 summaron.  The lenses are really made to be stopped down quite a bit.  Otherwise, there is very meaningful fall off, which is perectly normal for wide angle lenses.  The general rule of thumb for a typical WA lens (even with large format) is that you need to stop down at least THREE stops from the widest aperture to prevent vingetting/fall off.  So with your 6.3 it would be at least f16 and with my 5.6 it would be at least f11.  For landscapes this is REALLY important as the fall off (which probably isn't the right term) doesn't just affect the brightness of the edges but also the sharpness to a meaningful extent.  So using these lenses for landscapes at anything less than f16 and f11 (resepctively) is really not going to deliver good results.  For shots in the street and of people in general in which there is a select focal point or subject, the wider apertures aren't as problematic and can even be used to the advantage of the photographer.

How is your 6.3 with sun flare?  As stellar as the summaron? :)

The Big Beast aka my newly acquired Fuji GW690 II - first results from a walk on the Ridgeway yesterday afternoon. 1st shot is Acros 100 developed in Rodinal 1:50.

Uh oh - I've been wanting one of these for a long time. I usually cure myself by holding one in my hands (pictures of the cameras don't do justice to the sheer scale of them). Now I'm seeing these images...

You look cool walking round with them, I got stopped at the weekend after I took a photo they asked if they could see the shot on the screen they looked puzzled when they saw the back of the camera

Very nice picture Ric. :)

When you said "long exposure" it means less 1/15 -1/30 ?

You'll need a tripod in this case ?

Hey Henry, more like 3-4 minutes, so yes with a tripod... and remote release.

I am headed to Park Avenue and 53rd street to shoot this sculpture with my wide angle lens (I took this photo from the internet; it's not mine)...

I'll shoot a roll of B&W and color...

I'd love to hear suggestions for what film you'd suggest, assuming you can get back to me within the next 30 minutes or so...

It is an overcast day, which has good ambient light.  Flat clouds (unfortunately nothing dramatic)

I have, Ektar, Portras (160, 400, 800), Velvia 50 and 100 and Provia 100F

For B&W I have TX400, Ilford Pan 50, TMAX 100 and 400 and maybe Delta 100

I'm leaving soon and will bring them all with me...

Here are a couple of results from the roll of Ilford Pan-F 50 that I shot as per my message from Sunday.

I think these are strong from a composition perspective although I think that my ideal shot would be with Ektar during either the onset of a sunset with clouds or during the magic hour with a bright navy blue sky (no clouds needed), in either case with long strings of red, orange and yellow car lights running along the length of the streets (resulting from the long exposure of ideally b/n 8 and 15 seconds).

I have until July to execute as that it when this chrome guy is being removed...

I'm interested to know which composition strike you as most appealing, again, given the right light/color backdrop...

Welcome in my world Henry!

When I developed a film a few days ago, I accidentally opened the lid of my development tank too early, after pooring out the developer. :o

I immediately closed the lid again, and poured the fixer in.

Luckily it seems that the develop silver is not so sensitive to light once it is developed. :D

I still need to scan the results, but the negatives look ok...

Rgds

Yes Christophe :) . The error is human

and this allows to gain experience

Once I was under developed in times of revelation

All this will force us to be careful next time

Adam , the first give a perspective of the statue with buildings and vanishing line , I would

like more sky :)

The 2 and 3 give a narrower view , but also the perspective of the statue with buildings

around.

Best
