The colors and overall idea are very good, but for me the picture would gain a lot if it were mirrored horizontally, as it would be better to "read" from left to right. Just my 2 pence...

Thanks, James.  I appreciate your opinion and fresh look.  This wasn't my keeper of the ones I took, and neither is this one I am posting here, though it illustrates how the arch isn't mirrored on the left side.  That Fuji Velvia is quite vibrant and alive...

Thanks again...

View thro' the Arch. One more the M7/35mm Summaron/HP5+ at Lacock Abbey.  Scanned with V700.

I think the first one would benefit from a lift to the shadow tones to give more tonal separation, particularly of the horses. Lots of dust(?) spots on the second & third ones :0

PS - film/camera/lens?

I've got the chance of buying an immaculate silver M7 but I'm not sure I want a camera with electric components that could be a door stop in 20 years time

I would be quite happy to discover that in twenty years time mine had become a doorstop!

No doubt Henry will be along shortly to encourage you to take the plunge...

Can they be used manually if the electrics break down

Keith inspires me and I find two pictures of the facade of the Cathedral of Nantes (15th century)

roman style , taken at the same moment , one with my M8 and one with my M7 both with 50 Summilux A.

To  compare , I slighly cropped M7 photo because of the 1.3 factor of the M8

M8 -160 Isos

M7- Fuji Acros 100

My opinion :

More details in the shadow , in the grooves , more nuance of the stone , better definition , difference in general rendering !

It is certain that the lines and edges of the first picture (smoothed pixels) are sharper , but you lose detail and nuance for a stone  of this cathedral. The surface of the stone composed of grain of sand conglomerated is completely "smoothed" by the camera software so that it lacks details of real stone.
Same case as the previous photo of Keith (M240) vs. M7(?) for stone

and yours ?

then the "real stone" , it is on which photo, Gentlemen ?  :)

Best

I'll go out on a limb here Henry, I prefer the M8 shot. But that's the beauty of this forum, like what you like.

I like them both Adam.

To be honest when I saw the first one (and also same with this one) my first thought was "selective colouring" like we used to do with oils on a mono print many years ago. And I believe can be "dialed in" with some specific cameras.

It has a B&W coloured look. Lovely.
