Back to Lacock Abbey, same roll of HP5+. M7 & 35mm Summaron.

As a comparison, taken the same afternoon with M240, albeit with a 50mm lens (Summilux-M ASPH)

Preference?

I prefer the tones and framing (focal length) in the film image, but the cleaner lines on the wall on the left in the digital.

It would be interesting to see the difference between the prints; I am assuming the film image is scan of a negative and not a print.

An interesting comparison of two quite different shots. I'm in favour of the tones and grain of the first. I find the composition to be slightly stronger in the second one.

Keith, for the first photo, have you accentuated a little the "structure" ?

or it is uncorrected ?

I agree with Philip's comment   :)

As I had to act rather quickly I missed the exposure a bit on this one (which gave a rather grainy scan), so I converted it to b&w.

Excellent Adam.  Very clever. Was this planned or did the neg go in the scanner upside down? ;-)

Thanks, Mark.

Nope, I just stood on my head... :)

Here is another...

Sunlight & shadows in Westonbirt Arboretum.  M7 & C-Sonnar 50mm.  One more from my latest roll of HP5+.  The results from this roll are making me review my opinion of it - so far it has been third choice behind Tri-X & Neopan 400 but it might just have moved up the pecking order!  Now the M7 is loaded with Neopan.

PS - just received a roll of 120 Velvia back from AG Photo Lab, so will be making a start on scanning the slides this afternoon, so standby for some punchy colours.  6x6cm slides - drool!   ;)

Some sharpening with high-pass filter in PS and some noise reduction using the luminance slider in LR.
