LOL, I see 6 feet though Ric. An apprentice, or back-up?

All jokes aside, the Lisbon series, all with the one camera, one lens, one film, one driver, well, they are all wonderful.

Gary

Yes , I agree with you Gary

Col des Aravis from where I took this picture

and Aravis summit (3200 m)

I walked for four days for a pedestrian hike to reach the col at nearly 3,000 meters

there are wild goats living at 2000 m :)

Lovely view of all the Alpes from above I took photos I'll try to find and post for you ...

... not bother to tell you that I love the mountains that I prefer to the sea

Ian "relax" picture with nice black and grey scales

Thanks Henry. Yes, I find Portra converts quite nicely to black and white (might be sacrilege to some :D ).

Incidentally, Keith will already know but I meant to mention that my photo above was taken just off the Ridgeway (and a pleasant walk from the pub in Keith's photo)

OK, I'll ask. What causes the effect in the mid-tones of the upper half of the image? I've seen this before when I have stretched astro images too much, especially 8 bit astro images. Is this the same reason?

Hello Henry,

Nice photos.

Whether or not Kodachrome 64 (or Kodachrome 40 or Kodachrome 25) produce "perfect color", they certainly set the standard to be aimed for today.

The way original Kodachrome set the standard for color & granularity in 1935.

Best Regards,

Michael

I don't think that any film maker aims to reproduce the Kodachrome look in today's market.  Kodachrome had a very unique construction and development technique, whereby it's film base was essentially monochrome and only as part of the development process (after the exposures) were the colors added to the film.  This gave the Kodachome images a very special signature.  I have tried most of the color film stocks out there and unfortunately have not come across any that come close to the rendition of Kodachrome.  The Cinestill 50 is probably the closest, but still far from being able to fool to modestly trained eye...
