Hi Adam. I was actually wondering when I saw the b+w version what was unusual about it. I was wondering, in case you have the opportunity to revisit this location, if you might consider framing the shot lower, to hide the road in the background, and to the right, to place the two bent tree trunks in a stronger juxtaposition with each other. It might also omit the branches at top left and could result in a more dynamic composition (with a bit of editing in b+w to make them stand out against the foliage). Just an idea.

I really like the autumnal colours of the second shot you posted. I was just editing the below as a memento of a nice day at the beach in August. We've got hail and rain at the moment.

Thanks for the suggestion, Philip.  Great idea and I will try it out.

Love your photo.  Everything holds together wonderfully.

These are very nice natural-looking portraits, well done Chris.

Thank you for the kind words. That was my last time annoying folk at the hospital with a camera at weekends, as I am officially retired by the end of the day next Friday. Curious to think that those three people include a child psychiatrist, a trauma surgeon and a family doctor.

very interesting, Gary.  Just wondering whether you edited the scanned file at all or whether this is straight from the scanner...

Sorry Adam, just saw this reply.

I would have fiddled with the exposure/contrast etc in LR, and usually attempt to "clean up" any dust etc from the scan.

I find the scans at present "flat" so need to bring the info out.

Might go back to the BEOON and see what sort of results I get. Enjoy the Minolta scanner, but...........

we spent our recent honeymoon on the Faroe islands and due to going by car I opted to shoot medium format slides with my Pentax 645N instead of bringing the smaller, lighter Leica gear.

Provia 100F scanned on a Plustek OpticFilm 120 (what a superb machine this is!). Flickr introduces some sharpnening and I sized it down somewhat for the upload, but I think the quality is still visible.

This is an amanzing photo Bernhard. I like the shadows on the green mountains and the vivid colors.

best regards

Marc

Thank you!

The Faroe Islands are quite interesting to photograph. Lots of water and green, along with amazing sea views everywhere and dramatic light and weather changes all day long :)

love the green and blue color palette in this.  It has a nice majestic feel.  And you made the  slide film work well in this high contrast scene, which isn't easy.  Looking forward to seeing more...
