graeme_hutton Posted May 27, 2013 Share #1 Posted May 27, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi folks - Will a 24mm cause vignetting used with an M8? Does coding prevent this? Thanks Graeme
Advertisement Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Hi graeme_hutton, Take a look here M8 & 24mm - Vignetting?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wattsy Posted May 27, 2013 Share #2 Posted May 27, 2013 I don't think you will have problems with any of the Leica 24mm lenses although coding will enable the camera to make corrections for vignetting and also, more importantly, cyan drift (if the lens is fitted with a UV/IR filter). The 1.3 crop tends to remove most of the native vignetting (a difference made obvious to me when I use a coded 28 Summicron on M8 and M9) so I'd be surprised if you couldn't use an uncoded Leica 24mm lens (I think only the Elmarit is available uncoded) without problems. True on M8/M8u/M8.2 as well. Better use the original coding of Elmar 24/3.8 in my experience. M8 codings
iedei Posted May 27, 2013 Share #4 Posted May 27, 2013 i use a 21mm Elmarit, pre-ASPH...non-coded and have never experienced any vignetting.
