walglo Posted May 24, 2013 Share #1 Posted May 24, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) It is apparent that the circuit board for image processing needs to be replaced in my M8 for about $1000. I have read here that it is soldered to the sensor. Does that mean that the sensor must be replaced as well? Are the two, as a unit, replaced for $1000? Guest rivercityrocker Posted May 24, 2013 Share #2 Posted May 24, 2013 I'm no camera engineer, but I suspect they would just desolder the sensor connections and reconnect to the new PCB. I recently had this done to my D600. No new sensor.

walglo Posted May 24, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted May 24, 2013 I heard from the Technical Department of Leica USA: The sensor and main circuit board are paired for this camera as well. What I believe the Service Department would do is treat this as a complete overhaul and include the replacement of those items. The cost is likely to be approximately $450.00." I'm sure he's right about the sensor and circuit board being paired - but his price seems low.
