Shootist Posted April 3, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted April 3, 2007 My SF24 D flash intermitently displays the number 35 on the LCD display. Does anyone have any clue as to what this means?? Â Focal lenght of the lens attached to the camera?
Eoin Posted April 3, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted April 3, 2007 It could be the effective flash coverage for the focal length used, I don't have my manual to hand and this from memory, when you place either one of the diffusers on this number changes for the effective coverage, again I think it's 21 for the wide and 85 for the other. The standard coverage without the diffuser is effective for a 35mm lens, hence you see 35.
cbretteville Posted April 3, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted April 3, 2007 Eoin is correct, a flashing '35' means that the camera tells the flash it has a lens that is wider than 35mm attached and you're not using the wide angle difusor on the SF24d. portocar Posted April 4, 2007 Author Share #5 Â Posted April 4, 2007 Thanks everybody. That makes sense. Unfortunately, I had attached the Leica 24mm to the M8. It tramslates to a ~32mm. I guess the Flash has no way of knowing that the M8's Small sensor narrows the angle of view.
cbretteville Posted April 4, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted April 4, 2007 That depends on which focal length the camera feeds the flash. It knows that the 24 has a FOV of 32 and will write this in the exif info in the file. Regardless both 24 and 32 are wider than 35. I, btw, always have the wide angle difusor on as it takes a bit of the harshness of the light emmitted by the flash.
