LichMD Posted April 3, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) My brother and I went to Yankee Stadium today for opening day. This year is the 19th we've been to the Stadium for opening day. I brought the M8 and the Nocti and took some pics. Let me know what you think. Cheers,
Advertisement Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Hi LichMD, Take a look here Opening Day, Boys of Summer. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
hsw Posted April 3, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 3, 2007 The last one is my favorite. I'm not certain I like the Nocti for the type of shooting you were doing. In that I mean that this lens is so good for selective focus, but in these images I think the out of focus areas actually detract. IMHO these would have been better with a 35mm with a greater depth of field. Just my $.02 Henry
FMB Posted April 3, 2007 Share #3 Posted April 3, 2007 Jeff, I also like the last one. It's very interesting to be observer of the people like "ants". It's funny! Francisco.
LichMD Posted April 3, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted April 3, 2007 Henry and Francisco thank you for your comments. Henry, I had planned to bring the 28/2.0 for opening day (security being tight at the stadium, you can't bring bags) and at the last minute I ran out with the Nocti. Francisco, this shot is the last pitch of the game. It doesn't show well here, but on the full size DNG, you can see the ball sort of floating in front of the batter. This one is also my favorite. Gracias por tu commentario. Thank you gentlemen,
stuny Posted April 3, 2007 Share #5 Posted April 3, 2007 Jeff - I very much like your idea of showing how natives get to the Stadium, and of the pre-entry shots I like the first one of the subway (elevated in the Bronx). Of the game, the last works wonderfully with the moisture in the air helping to define the building distance from the fans directly in front of you, to the fans to the right of the foul line, through the baseline which is still just clear enough, and finally to the impressionist wash of the tiers of fans in the background. the overall effect is nearly 3D. One of my clients was there – Did you see him? I sent a copy of your last photo to him.
