Jon Pop Posted April 29, 2013 Share #1 Posted April 29, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) There have been discussions before regarding the fit (or not) of the 50mm Dual Range Summicron on various models after the M4. I'm well aware of the height differences with the M7 and M6TTL for the goggle alignment, and know that the DR can't be used too successfully on the M8/M9 without modification. But I was wondering about the MP, which is my current camera. It's so similar to the M2/M3 in body height/shape I was hoping that it would work. Of course, I'm particularly interested in the fit of the lens to the body, specifically any cam interference, etc. Does anyone else out there have an MP, specifically, that they are using the 50mm DR without difficulty and full function? My SN is 3092XXX if that helps. I've come across one for a fairly decent price and it's such a beautiful lens I'd love to be able to use it on my MP. Cheers, Jon
Advertisement Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Hi Jon Pop, Take a look here Leica MP + Dual Range Summicron. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted April 29, 2013 Share #2 Posted April 29, 2013 I have both. The DR binds at infinity on the MP so I don't use it. It works perfectly on my M2.
xalo Posted April 29, 2013 Share #3 Posted April 29, 2013 On my MP the DR Summicron seems to work well. Can this be linked to different versions of either body or lens or both? The lens should be from 1957, the body from 2006. Alexander
kaspart Posted April 29, 2013 Share #4 Posted April 29, 2013 Works fine on mine as well. MP body is from 2003, DR lens from 1956
ola.fiske Posted April 29, 2013 Share #5 Posted April 29, 2013 I have never had any problem with using DR on my two MP.
andybarton Posted April 29, 2013 Share #6 Posted April 29, 2013 My MP is from 2011 and the DR is from 1963. It's the only lens that binds, only on the MP.
philipus Posted April 30, 2013 Share #7 Posted April 30, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) What do you mean by "binds", Andy?
andybarton Posted April 30, 2013 Share #8 Posted April 30, 2013 The focus gets stiff when approaching infinity. I suspect that the focus cam is pushing too hard on the roller in the body. The lens focusses perfectly on the M2, though.
