stevem7 Posted July 23, 2006 Share #1 Posted July 23, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Finally getting the hang of the M7. Used the Ilford BW C41 film, scanned with a Nikon coolscan V. Seems these are my sharpest yet. Used the 50 summicron, mainly at F2. Hopefully in the next few weeks I can get some street shots. Just wanted to make sure I knew how to use this camera! Also, when I took the film for processing at my local one hour store the prits were yellow, but the negs were fine and i scanned them. Ill be returning the prints for a refund tomorrow. Anyone know why they would be yellow?

jmr Posted July 23, 2006 Share #4 Posted July 23, 2006 Steve, very good. The last one is my favorite, but the one of the boy (your son?) with the glasses made me smile.
stuny Posted July 23, 2006 Share #5 Posted July 23, 2006 Steve - Keep going. You've got a good eye, and the willingness to try unhorthodox angles. Well done.
stevem7 Posted July 23, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted July 23, 2006 Thanks! Yea, the one with the glasses is my son. The last one is my nephew while working out his triceps. He is here on vacation for the summer and wants me to whip him in to shape. Thanks for all of the comments! Steve

stevem7 Posted July 23, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted July 23, 2006 Stefan, I went to your website and you have amazing photos there. All of them are wonderful. Thanks for the comments. Steve
stunsworth Posted July 23, 2006 Share #9 Posted July 23, 2006 Steve, it's highly unlikely that you will get neutral prints from XP2 and a colour 1 hour lab. XP2 lacks the orange mask that is used by the colour process. While this means that the negatives print very easily in a conventional b&w enlarger, the colour processor will struggle producing a neutral print. stevem7 Posted July 23, 2006 Author Share #10 Posted July 23, 2006 Thanks, I found that out about 2 hours ago. Went back up to the 1 hour store and they said with this film, the prints will be yellow. I asked for a refund since they did not tell me this up front and they refused. Last time I go there. Anyway, I like the film and it scans great. I'll probably just get it processed and print myself if needed. Thanks Steve
cardinal Posted July 24, 2006 Share #11 Posted July 24, 2006 Actually I do not think it is your film that makes the prints yellow. It is the chemicals they are using, probably Kodak and the type of paper they are using. Tell them to process the pics on black and white paper not color paper. joebt Posted July 26, 2006 Share #13 Posted July 26, 2006 Steve, You got the hang of the M7, I see. I have to get me a Nikon coolscan. These look superb to my eyes. Hey gang, Steve has been a sho-nuff shooter for years. He turns out great images with any camera he decides to use. Right now, I'm shooting and storing the negatives until I get my hands on a good scanner. I'll be looking to see some more from you Steve.
stevem7 Posted July 26, 2006 Author Share #14 Posted July 26, 2006 Good to see you over here! Yea, Im enjoying the M7 though it is so much different than a SLR. I'm still holding on to an Oly E1 though The Nikon coolscan V is GREAT. Thought it would be just good since its the lowest in the line but I have yet to have any problems and the quality is good enough for me. It's time consuming but fun. Thanks for the post, and hope to see more of your awesome street shots! Steve
