Etruscello Posted April 22, 2013 Share #1 Posted April 22, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Forgive my first intrusion on the film forum. In recent years I use my Leica lenses on the M8.2 and M-E only. I'm tempted to revive my M6 -- but not my darkroom. I shoot mostly color, travel images. Can anyone recommend a mail-order lab that will process my color film by providing both prints and excellent quality scans (Tiff or Jpeg) for my computer printed enlargements? Would you please also advise me as to what color films, fast and slow, scan best? I appreciate your advice and apologize in advance if this topic has already been discussed extensively -- I'm new to your forum. Tom

TomB_tx Posted April 22, 2013 Share #2 Posted April 22, 2013 I often carry both my M9 and M6, and really prefer shooting the M6. Dwayne's Photo in Kansas is reliable and reasonable for processing, and the scans have been very good, if not as high resolution as some labs. I like Kodak Portra 160 or 400, and Ektar when I want more brilliant color.
kdriceman Posted April 22, 2013 Share #3 Posted April 22, 2013 I have been using this group lately: http://thedarkroom.com/ They have done nice job for me and will upload the scans directly after they process them, thereby saving a few days waiting for the negs, CD and prints. They also do hi-res jpeg scans for an extra charge. I used to use Dwayne's exclusively, but I was disappointed in my last rolls of BW that I had them do. However, they are usually good and reasonably priced.
Orient XI Posted May 4, 2013 Share #4 Posted May 4, 2013 United Kingdom members should take care not to confuse http://thedarkroom.com with http://thedarkroom.co.uk . The latter is a Potters Bar based supplier of reasonably priced, quality brands of digital paper and other photographic sundries.
dritz Posted May 4, 2013 Share #5 Posted May 4, 2013 dr5.com in Denver has been my goto mail-order lab for years. Plus, they do cross-processing of B&W negatives to slide, and they scan beautifully! It's the only way to go for B&W work for scanning. The best lab in Seattle (and they do mail order) is Panda Labs. Dean Seattle
