sterno Posted April 21, 2013 Share #1 Posted April 21, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) All: New Leica M user; (classic M6). Im on my 10th undeveloped roll to date. Issue?? When its very bright out I lose the triangular LED lights. I assume this is not the norm. Is this why I have heard M6 users upgrading the RF to the M7 rf? Whats the way to over come this. I did buy it via web but from a Leica dealer (2/21/13)..... thanks sterno

sterno Posted April 21, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted April 21, 2013 Thanks but the batteries are fine. When I am using the camera in doors or when its NOT very sunny out- the exposure indicators show fine..... sterno
TomB_tx Posted April 21, 2013 Share #4 Posted April 21, 2013 Agree - try fresh batteries. The LEDs get dimmer as the batteries weaken. I find the M6 much better in LED visibility than many other cameras of that vintage, but LED readouts are all better in dim light, while mechanical needle meters are better in bright light. (M5 for example) I've had no problems seeing my M6 LEDs in the bright Texas sun - unless I'm wearing sunglasses.
erl Posted April 24, 2013 Share #5 Posted April 24, 2013 Occasionally, I have found that new batteries are not always fresh. First and easiest test is to swap in your spare fresh batts to see what happens.
willwright Posted April 24, 2013 Share #6 Posted April 24, 2013 way back when the classic M6 was introduced this comment, of having the LED's wash out in very bright light, showed up occasionally. The offical "fix" at the time was to move the edge of your left finger, holding the camera, upwards to the edge of the finder window. This will shade the bottomt part of the window slightly and make the triangles viisble. It's not a battery problem. Try it!
