Advertisement Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Hi Herr Barnack, Take a look here Which M. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guido Posted August 5, 2013 Share #82 Posted August 5, 2013 I asked Leica to build a chimera for me: early M7 with new MP finder and old M3 rewind lever. They'll do anything for money
TomB_tx Posted August 8, 2013 Share #83 Posted August 8, 2013 I agree on the Zeiss Ikon (ZM). I have an M7 that I use with a 35mm lens, but prefer to use the Zeiss because of the viewfinder and ease of loading. The 50, 35 and 28 frame lines are excellent, and the shutter release is precise. It's a "shooting" camera. The Ikon is certainly a good alternative. Although I have M3 through 6 (and M9) and have used Ms since the mid 1960s, as age weakens my eyes I just picked up the Zeiss Ikon ZM, and indeed I can focus it better. For manual metering I prefer the M6 style readout, but with the great viewfinder the ZM is nice in automatic mode.
philcycles Posted August 10, 2013 Share #84 Posted August 10, 2013 I'm thinking of buying a second M (film), my first one is a M9 (upgraded). I love metering manual with a handheld meter and 50mm is my favorite focal length. What would be a good choice? M4, M6, M7? MP is too expensive if M9 stays me most used camera. Regards, Paul If you're shooting with a 50 an M3 is the choice.
