Greetings All,

I don't usually shoot flowers but I just got the Macro Elmar kit from POPFLASH and decided to take it out as it is such a beautiful day here on the West Coast of Canada - handheld of course.

The Elmar without the adapter is a formidable 90mm lens. I really like the size and quality of this lens.

Cheers. Terry.

Thanks... It is wicked combo as you pointed out. The little viewfinder piece is all Leica. The kit is amazing, lenshood with cap, cap for use without the lens hood, and the leather case for viewfinder will be around for a very long time. The adapter works nicely on the M8. I am happy. It is a great little 90 without macro.

Cheers. Terry.

Lovely pictures, thanks for sharing, Aside from the slightly clunky lens hood, the 90/4 is a great lens.

Thanks Mark, you so right that is the strangest looking lenshood lens combo...I guess Leica retro. Great lens.

Terri i just reserved one of these from my dealer and i was going to get the adapter also but the flower shots above very nice BTW were just with the lens only and not the adapter. See i have the Visio also and wondering if the adapter maybe a redundant piece of gear

I just read the specs on the angle finder , no diopter built in but does look neat. I think I will get the adapter too makes for a nice travel macro

The Elmarit Macro Set ist the lens i have ordered by the 30% action. At the moment Leica have problems to deliver the Adapter, but at the end of these month i should get the set.

Not retro but permanence. That lenshood was introduced in 1958 for the new 90 mm Elmarit and has been in use since then on all long M lenses with a 39 mm filter size. Clunky? It works – in contradistinction to many of those dainty little pull-out things.

So you did get the goggles and extender as well as the lens and hood? Is there a hole for the little blue dot to see through?

I calculate that you get down to less than 40 cm distance at the quoted 1:3 limiting magnification. Do the goggles give you parallax correction for that close, and do you find the slightly different angle of view from the viewfinder is enough of a problem to deter the serious bug and flower hunter?

cheers,

scott

Good Morning Guy,

Sorry to take so long to respond, early to bed not so early to rise. Flowers were shot with the adapter. The long shot was without the adapter (nice little 90mm and sharp). I bought the whole kit from Tony Rose. As you point out the eye piece has no diopter correction but it works well and is very neat. Both the lens and adapter are coded. So the kit is lens, adapter, and eye piece. The lens comes with the hood, lens cap for the hood, and a second lens cap for use with out the hood. All beautiful. They do it well.

Thanks Terri appreciate the feedback. I will diffently get the adapter than. That little angle finder sure looks tempting too. LOL

More money down the black hole.

BTW with the adapter that is pretty darn close to the flowers , I like that a lot and most cases maybe all you really need. Was that the closet for the white flower on the right.

Not sure I understand how you got your flower shots, which are beautiful, by the way.

Were they done with the macro adaptor attached to your M8?

Sorry to ask you to repeat if you already made this clear.

Sorry, I was not very clear. Flower shots are with the adapter. The long shot is without the adpater.

It is a very compact 90mm and would make a great travel lens although it is an F4 but that is it's only limitation near as I can tell.

Cheers. Terry.

I think most of us here know this stuff Lars. But that said it is still clunky!

Cheers. Terry.
